Ontario does not have many earthquakes, brush fires, or risk of tsunami, so I would have to say Ontario. |

i live in ontario canada and i have lots of fun. i never lived in california but i have visited and its awesome. their 2 different countries, not just provinces so take that into account. if you lived in usa prior to moving to canada you may not like it and vice versa. |

Born raised Ontario and now West Coast of BC and often visit California. Both are spectacular in their own ways. If you could reduce California's population by about 19 million it would be hard to beat the sun, the sea, the weather and surroundings but its a crowded place. Ontario still has lots of open spaces so not quite so claustrophobic and though the winters are long and involve snow that 4 distinct seasons is invigorating and cold doesnt stop you from outdoor stuff but just adds a new dimension. Summertime in the Ontario Muskokas is hard to beat and Toronto is a vibrant city.
I'd be a tough choice but for me either Northern California or South-Western Ontario. Funny thing is tho two areas are exactly on the same latitude |

Both are big places, and the answer may vary depending upon where in Ontario or California you are talking about. A lot of it would depend on what type of weather you prefer. In Ontario, winter is long and cold, regardless of where you live. California has places with a cold winter and a mild winter. Parts of California are much more prone to earthquakes, while Ontario is not so much affected by quakes. Then there is quality of life issues and a person's personal preferences to take into account. |

I'd probably like to live in Ontario, California...that way I get the best of both areas ;-)
I have had extended visits in both, and there are advantages and disadvantages to both.
California:
PRO - Nice weather, lots of activities
CON - earthquakes, dangerous animals and insects
Ontario:
PRO - very little homeless problem, low crime
CON - heavy snowfalls, long commutes to work
I guess I would have to choose Ontario if I had to pick only one, mainly because it is centralized and because I am biased in favour of Canada, since that is where I am living now. |
