Jamaica is amazing. we stayed at Sunset beach resort. it's a great all inclusive hotel. jamaica can be dangerous. you have to do research of things to do while there. you don't wanna leave your hotel unless on a group activity. make sure you get the right taxis with the red license plates. jamaica has some great activites but you have to be carefull. we stayed at our hotel the whole time but when we went with a tour from our hotel. duns river falls was fantastic. also driving around and see the villiages was sad but a good eye opener. rafting on the martha brae...awesomeeee. shopping trip was a good way to get souveniers at the good shops in town. the water there is amazing and i had a great time. the all inclusive is nice b.c you pay once and get room, food, beach, activites, etc. you do have to pay for tours but they are worth it. have funnn

Two completely different places. You did not say what airport you were departing from, and the airfare will have something to do with the cost of the trip.
Fun...I would say Jamaica
Adventure...Ireland
Food..Jamaica if you like spicy and different
There are a variety of different hotels in both.
No castles in Jamaica and no beaches in Ireland.

I enjoyed Ireland very much, and Jamaica is home but what you enjoy doing on a trip will have alot to do with where you go....So I would call the tourist board and ask them to send you brochures. They will want to send you a bunch of brochures if you tell them you are thinking of visiting their country. That may help you decide.
As for value that too may depend on what kind of hotel you prefer. Never stay at the cheaper hotels (spoils your trip) but there are hotels that are reasonable, but not too expensive in both places.

*Remember also the dollar exchange rate. $1 US = 70 Jamaican dollars
Ireland may be more expensive because of the rate of exchange over there now.

Where ever you go I hope you enjoy your trip.

Jamaica. If your are concerned about expenses and want to have etreme fun and enjoy beautiful falls and tourist attraction. But Ireland if you are adventurous and love historic sites.

P.S you could get robbed anywhere so live for now

ireland... ugh boring. jamaica is definately more fun! in april. hmm is that around spring break time? don't matter thought even if its not spring breaks that near the time when college holidays begin. lots of parties and vibe. and of course if you want the tourist attractions etc that there all year round. food culture people site seeing and all of that.

as the answerer said below he got robbed... jamaica can be a dangerous place once your dont have your head on your shoulders. if your dont know how to conduct yourself and just come of as an over excited, stupid tourist.. you will fall prey to whomever wants to rob. tourist rarely get robbed and i can ensure you that you wont get robbed if your dont put yourself in that position. dont walk the streets in the late of the night, do go with your money and all your jewelry and values hanging out etc. same things you need to do in your counttry to protect yourself, (i dont think you would go walking in any dark alley or lonely places in your country
)... same thing out here, i dont get what's up with his insults.. anyway. your choice, your preference so see which location has more to offer you. if you love beaches and tropics etc .. jamaica would be the obvious answer

It all depends on what you like... but I would say Jamaica, but just be careful, there is a lot of crime there, but if you're smart you'll be fine! I've been there three times (not in resorts mind you) and have never been robbed. In fact, I once dropped a pocket knife and didn't know it, and then later, a Jamaican boy (probably about 14 or 15) ran up to me in the public market saying he saw me drop it and didn't want me to lose it. Most of the people are really kind, it's just in some areas where there are theives (such as Ocho Rios, Negril, and inner Kingston).

I wasn't in Jamaica an hour before I got robbed. The Irish are dedicated to higher pursuits.
