JULIE D:
Can someone please tell all the Tourists that Jamaica is a FUN place to live and visit? This is especially the case for people who decide to just spend some cash and enjoy themselves while they are here.

This place is relatively safe for tourists. Just appreciate that this island is more than sun, sea, sand and coconuts. There is life and parties and traffic and all the good and bad things you could expect to find in a real society.

This is a place with unmatched variety. If you want beach you can have that and just that (peaceful and undisturbed). If you want street parties you can have that too. If you want clubs, thats here too. do you want churchs? Thats here too! Powersports? Yes. Rustic Eco tourism? yes.

Plan your vacation and enjoy yourself. The only real limit is that you need a paycheck to experience it all.

EDIT:
Lazy A
I've been in airports where there are two hundred people and i am one of only two people who are 'black'. In a 'white' population a black person can feel odd too. Its not a big deal (except for the time a customs officer searched me because i was a black person unable to speak a word of spanish, who was about to leave a spanish speaking country in private plane. They even searched my bags for hidden compartments too!).

Jamaica is mostly black but its a mixed enough population for you to feel comfortable, this is especially so in or near tourist resorts.

lol......good question sabrina.

cuz i see nuff questions in the jamaica category that are answered by non-jamaicans, many of whom have NO clue what they are talking about.

i'm jamaican, i live in jamaica, i love jamaica and i don't have any plans of leaving soon! ^ ^

to Lazy A: there's nothing wrong with wanting to visiting jamaica, white or not. color doesn't matter..come enjoy yourself!

My dad's Jamaican and my mom's Canadian and I was born in Canada (so i would have a Canadian citizenship). We back moved to Jamaica after I was born and lived there until I was around 5, but then we moved back to Canada. It's been on and off since then, and I visit Jamaica at least 3 times a year and I think we may be moving back near the end of the summer :) We have a guesthouse like 5mins from 7mile beach in Negril, and I love Jamaica and everything about. I'm pretty excited to move back if we do, although I'll be leaving again after I'm finished highschool, for college.

I don't live in JA...but my Dad is Jamaican, so I have alot of family there (I actually did live there yars ago)...I stay in Ochi all the time...honestly, I'm just like one of the locals, ask around Ochi about Sonny G from LA, guaranteed you'll run into somebody who knows me (That's how cool Jamaicans are). Because of work/family obligations up here, I can't move down there (as much as I'd love to), but, ideally, I'd like to start spending half of the year here in the US and half of the year in JA.

There seriously is no place like it on earth (and I've traveled to alot of places)...the music, the culture, the food, the atmosphere, and the people all combine to make it what it is...anybody who has never been needs to go, and I guarantee that they'll fall in love...and as far as danger...well you have that here in the States too...you just have to be smart...I surely wouldnt let that be any kind of reason to keep me away...

Well not many tourists anymore because it is kind of dangerous (so I've heard) for Europeans and Americans....
