My wife and I have had anniversaries in Mexico 5 years ago and Jamaica this past July. We much preferred Jamaica. I suggest you think what it is that you want in a resort. We wanted a "no kids" one and also a place that had a disco that stayed open late. We decided upon Breezes Runaway Bay and loved it. The entertainment staff is top notch. Also, I suggest you check out TripAdvisor.com for info on resorts and areas. You will find reviews of resorts there as well as a Forums section which is question and answer. You can do a lot of "honeymoon homework" there. You will have a good time at all of the resorts, but to have a GREAT honeymoon do some research. Oh, and congratulations! |

We loved the Iberostar in Playa Pariso just south of Cozmuel.
All inclusive, great beach, close to Cozumel, close to Playa del Carmen. Staff was great, food was great. Check it out.
We flew out of Boston on a GWV tour - no problems and it was not too pricey.
We too went in August and had great weather. The Yucatan Pinenisula is a supr place to vacation and honeymoon.
Best wishes and have fun. |

I have been vacationing in Jamaica every year since 2000. I have stayed at Point Village resort in Negril on four occasions and have noticed weddings going on there. The resort is beautifully laid out in a tropical beach-front setting with picturesque views. I have also met newlyweds on this resort who had a blast with the entertainment and amenities.
You can find a whole lot more details by going to their website at pointvillage.com. You do not need a wedding planner, they do all the work for you, just tell them your plans and arrangements.
I wished I was getting married now (instead of 18 years ago) and going there for my honeymoon!!
The staff and wedding coordinators do a remarkable job there.
Negril is a beautiful town on the North West region of the Island. Ocho Rios is a beautiful town so is Montego Bay for honeymooners. In Montego Bay the Holiday Inn resort is 7 miles from the MOBAY airport (about a 15 minutes ride). So if you do not want to travel far, this is a really cool resort too located in close proximity of the Hip Strip where all the 'happenings' are going on. It is nearby Margaritaville too...the party place!
In Trelawny (about midway between Ocho Rios and MOBAY) there are two really cool resorts there, Starfish and FDR Pebbles. They are next door to each other and they both sport a bundle of activities that is bound to make you crave for more Jamaica!
Good luck! |

i just got back from my honeymoon we went though sandals the location was "Grande Ocho Rios" it was off the hook I'm 24 yrs old and i had a blast it was $2,400 for me and my wife for 5 nights the resort was 1400 but the plain tickets from SF to ocho rios was 1000. food was off the hook once your there u don't have to pay for anything alcohol is also free. thought out the Trip i spent 600 and that's because i did things outside of the resort like house back riding in the ocean, duns river fall, ATV riding, and taking a safari of Jamaica it was off the hook trust me if u go u will have a good time |

I adore Jamaica and the people who live there, and try and go at least once a year! There are some great all inclusives there, but I prefer to stay on the Southwest coast, in the Treasure Beach area, where there are very, very few tourists! You can rent a private house, with a pool, private beach, housekeeper, cook and driver for a LOT less than an all-inclusive too, and most of the beaches are almost deserted - we've had the beach to ourselves many times. Check out www.treasurebeach.net - there's a ton of good info there. The people are SO friendly and nice, and we always have a great time! There's night life if you want it, and stuff to do, or you can do nothing. I love it there! Email me if you have any specific questions!
You asked about rain: we usually go in June or July, and while it might rain everyday, it only lasts for about 15 minutes. Most people don't even get off the beach. The SW side is much dryer, and usually only rains for a little bit at night. |

August in that part of the world can be tricky. Pretty hot and you have possible hurricane issues. My wife and I like to take a cruise. I recommend Celebrity for couples. You will be pampered. Multiple destinations and a great deal of fun. Be sure to get cruise/vacation insurance. If the weather turns bad and you have to cancel, you will get your money back. |

Hello I've been to Jamaica 7 times already and in the middle of planning my next trip. My husband and I were actually married there it'll be 11years in October. The Sandals properties are wonderful...as well as the Grand Lido's and Couple Negril...Let me know if you have any questions.. I just love the island |

I suggest going to a couples resort where there aren't any whiny little kids around. Plus the activities would be geared for the older crowd too. Try http://www.iBtraveling.com for a variety of travel sites so you can find a great deal. Have fun and good luck! |

I have booked my honeymoon for next June in Punta Cana Dom Rep at Sunscape the Beach.
I have had loads of great reviews about this and found a fantstic wed forum to find out more about where I am going.
With it being on the east coast it doesn't seem to have as much bad weather as some other places.
Here is the link to the site -it might be useful and you can ask plenty of "real" people any questions you have before you decide. |

I had my 1st honeymoon in Jamaica, in the Sandals Montego Bay. It was nice and it was a couples only hotel, which we loved. The sandals have a few more all inclusive hotels there in the island. A good place, and fairly cheap, for an all inclusive is Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. My girlfriend just spent 4 days with her hubby for $150/per night for both of them. They just had to buy the airline tickets. She says it was nice and she had a blast. Good luck and have fun. You can check Yahoo travel that is how she booked it. |
