Me

Any island recommendations for a honeymoon?

My fiance and I are getting married next summer--so we have quite a bit of time to plan--but, we are trying to think of where to go for a honeymoon.

He wants an island destination probably in the Carribean--and I am fine with that idea--but I want whatever island we vacation in to have some degree of genuine CULTURE as well as many ACTIVITIES--as in, not just some random island where tourists inhabit.

Recommendations? Anyone? I would even be open to a suggestion that may not be in the Carribean but is only a little bit more expensive and would have the things I mentioned I was looking for.

Thanks!

Come stay in the Turks and Caicos ... it's so peaceful and hidden and if you go to salt cay or middle caicos, it'd probably be only you and your husband but in Provo a great place would be the regent palms !!!!

Freeport, Bahamas. Very relaxing - not too expensive. Check out Pelican Bay Resort - VERY COOL place. Everything you want to do is right there. All beach recreation, casino, shopping, bars, restaurants............absolutely relaxing.

Try Fiji or the other Polynesian islands, if you get away from the main islands, you can realy immerese yourself in island culture, and get involved with the locals if you want, or just relax on the beach, its the most laid back place ever.

The sea is crystal clear like bathwater, and about the same temperature.
You can even do island hopping tours where you have a large boat and go to whatever islands you want and sleep overnight on it.
Plus the people are very very friendly!

Jamaica is packed with culture and there is plenty to do there. I recommend an All-inclusive resort that is for adults only like Breezes.

Edward
I would recommend Saint Martin. It's where the airplanes fly 30 feet over the beach, that is really neat.

sri lanka..

my brother and sister-in-law went there for their honeymooon. they loved it. i've been there on vacation at least 6 times. the island's rich with culture, the people are friendly, the food's delicious. and there are so many activities too. white water rafting, scuba diving, safaries. sri lanka's well known for their beaches too. the hotels are amazing as well. it's a great country overall. and it's not very expensive either.. look into it. i'm sure you'll like it. :]
