It's a great choice, it used to be the Jack Tar I believe and when I went to check it out it's an awesome choice, especially if you have kids. They have optional kids programs which are great! They have 3 pools including a lagoon pool with slides and a wave pool section. It's beside the golf course if you like golf, and if you don't have any kids they have an Adults pool/section. You should upgrade to the Royal Suites....grab the Jacuzzi Master suite it's well worth it!!

First off the Dominican republic is fantastic. Quite the complete opposite of what you will find on the other side of the Island, Haiti. Two distinctly different countries.

I have been there several times and loved it. Michael Jackson married Lisa Marie Presley on this Island. Not that such a happening should be the reason to go, but do you think he would travel to a horrid spot for that event. Hardly.

I would suggest that you delete any responses that tell you that it is boring. They obviously have never been there and have no idea of what you and your wife are looking for in a vacation. Studying it in school is hardly a valid recommendation!

you should check out trip advisor as there will be reviews of the hotel on there and a forum where you can ask questions. I went to the Dominican it was really nice but I would not go back as it was not that special there are alot nicer islands in the dominican.
If you want somewhere really special and romantic you should try the Maldives we have just come back and it was amazing

my daughter spent a few days there after being rescued from hurricane Wilma in Cancun Mexico almost 2 years ago - she said the holiday village was great but nothing else there as they had to go and search for shops to buy clothes and didn't have much success, they only had the clothes they stood in - she said she wouldn't go back.
