There really isn't much to see in Kingston so avoid Kingston if you can. Treat the people with respect and they will reciprocate. Be street smart--don't wear fancy jewelry, don't flash cash, travel in groups (if possible) and on well traveled locations. If you are heading for the beach resorts, use plenty of sunscreen. Enjoy a couple red stripes, avoid the ganja, try some real jerk. If staying at an all inclusive, get off the resort and see the true Jamaicamon.

check out tripadvisor.com for recommendations and just be cautious like you would anywhere.

stay away from Holiday Inn Sunspree in Montego Bay. It was crap.
Try Catcha Falling Star in Negril, it was awesome.

went last summer to sandals negril, we loved it, i would suggest staying at an all inclusive there is really plenty to do on the resort most of the time we were on the beach or at the pool bar. I would not recommend just leaving the resort on your own if you want to leave pay a few extra bucks and take one of the resort tours. We went horseback riding and on a shopping trip. you get a tour gide and they will expect a tip but they will keep you safe. overall i felt safe the entire time we were there. Although with recent happenings at the airport i would be a bit concerned about security. It was noticalbly less than the atlanta airport to say the least. However i will say that we were late getting to the airport for our departing flight and were in line with about 8000 people to get to the ticket desk but a very nice security man took us to the desk ahead of everyone for 20 bucks just a little tip for you a little american money will get you a long way.

Sure my recommendation is that there are about 50 OTHER countries in the Caribbean to go to rather than one that is full of CRIME, DRUGS and POVERTY.. and AmeriKans with hot hormones
