Taxi drivers are the easiest and one of the safest. Prices vary but usually $80 will get you a nice half when you are a tourist. If you can, try to make friends with a local who works at the resort, I stayed at the Sandals Royal Carribean and made friends with a bartender, he took care of me all week. I am headed down there 14-24, enjoy yourself and be safe

Ok I have never stayed in Montego Bay but I've been to Ocho Rios and Negril and pretty much had the same experiance...

First off almost every hotel employee will pull you over to offer you "da best" The hotel pays them very low wages so they sell Ganja to make ends meet.

Remember weed is illegal in Jamaica but it is def tollerated much more than the States. We smoked litterally everywhere we went (Smoking a blunt on the breakfast buffet line scooping eggs onto my plate) but keep your head up to look for police, which rarely bother tourists, and you should be fine. you should only carry with you what you are planning to smoke and leave any extra ganja in the room safe The beach is always a perfect place to smoke.

Most Importantly DONT GET RIPPED OFF!!!!! HAGGLE!!!!

Jamaicans selling pot to tourists know that most tourists pay astronomical prices back in the States and will try to get the same price. Don't fall for this. You will be able to purchase copious amounts of high grade Ganja for very little money but only if you talk them down to about 20% of the original price. For instance if someone is offering pot for $100 US its only worth about $20 or less
No exaggeration. Simply tell the dealer this isnt your first time in Jamaica and know that Ganja is dirt cheap out here. We heard rumors of pounds of purple for $200 US but the Cheapest ive seen was $500. Dont be intimidated by the branches of bud longer than your arm (Not exagerating) they are still only worth $20-$30. Remember you can always walk away from a dealer who is charging too much beacuse the bartender or the bellboy will be able to get you what you want.

Some more tips:
Be warned that if you are a blunt smoker bring cigars of your choice because they are hard to come by in Jamaica, joint paper runs rampant though. Also it is very important that you either bring or purchase a weed grinder. Weed in Jamaica is different from most weeds aquired stateside since it is outdoor and isnt cured the way it is here it is a pain to break up by hand. I hope that helped out again be careful and you should have the time of your life. Jamaica is a smokers paradise.

you can pick up an 1/8 for bout 10 usd,dont buy in the airport but other than that they will just walk up to you and ask if you wangt some pot.
somtimes they say hey mon ya need anyting, thats the hint for do you want pot? also the man on the beach or in boats you need to swim out to are not there to sell necklaces and seashells their there to sell weed mon.

Purely Jamaica

You'll nave no problems finding it. Sandals is more of a family style resort, so don't smoke openly.

Do NOT:

Buy in the airport.
Smoke openly.
Deal with seedy people.
Front your money.
Pay more than you would in the states.
Bring any back with you!

Do:

Befriend security at your hotel.
Respect the fact that not everyone smokes pot there.
Enjoy the herb with some local food and drinks.
Try many varieties if you can.
Have fun and smoke one for me!

You'll pay around $40 - 80 for an ounce. They won't weigh it up for you and half the time you don't receive it in a bag. If the price / weight isn't what you want, just a simple, no thanks--respect mon. Then walk away politely. You can get it almost anywhere. I wouldn't recommend buying it at the hotel. Sandals isn't a very laidback place. Get outta the hotel and find a taxi driver. Just ask them straight out for it. You don't need to play word games.

If you decide to smoke while in Jamaica be careful of where you are and who is watching--like most other places you don't want to do it in front of kids or the police......

As far as price, make & buy from friends because you will have "sucker" on your forehead from the second you walk off of the plane until you board it again.

You do realise that it is illegal in Jamaica right?

A lot of people have this misconception that it is legal to buy and smoke marijuana in Jamaica. IT IS NOT.

There are also undercover police who will actively "set you up", and then pounce on you as soon as money exchanges hands.

If you get caught, expect to get slung in jail along with all the other tourists who though it was legal.

why do you people get the impression that smoking is legal in jamaica? listen smoking is NOT legal in jamaica so don't come here to smoke, come here to enjoy the beaches and the relaxation.

Not everyone in Jamaica smokes pot..and I would advise you not to stink up the hotel room.
