Anybody been to Puerto Rico lately?
Any traveling guide, I want to visit different places and also snorkeling, help.
Puerto Rico was amazing!
The forts of Old San Juan were amazing and the people are very nice. If you speak spanish you will find it some what difficult to understand since they kinda speak a faster spanish. The local food was delicious, i tried to avoid mc donalds and burger king. They use plantains(bananas) in many of their foods. Try mofongos, those were good. El Yunque was just spectacular. Its a rainforest located in the hills east of San Juan and is not very far. The mangos in the area were huge compared to the ones back in the U.S and they were very cheap. If you happen to buy a beer, Medalla Light was the best, better than the ones back home. The Bacardi factory is also located near San Juan. You dont get taxed for any liqour you bring back to the States.

i make it a point to avoid PR at all costs. Your best bet is to get a comuter flight out of PR and get to St. Thomas where you have more civilized people / better snorkeling / nice hotels. Megans Bay is one of the top 10 beach in the entire world. Coki beach is great for St. John is a very short ferry ride away . Tortola is a beautiful llittle island. All inexpensive little ferry rides away. St. Thomas is the perfect place / base for a vacation . You will like it tons better than PR. you can get a flight for under 100 round trip out of PR and over to St. Thomas. Well worth the expense. Or consider getting a cruise and out of San Juan. Many good deals on ships ever week that usually go to three/ four islands that have better snorkeling. PR is a huge waste of money . The people are not pleasant to deal with. Hotels overpriced / a bit like mexico ? a 5 star version of their hotel is probably a 3 / maybe 4 at best version of what you'd expect ? it's renegage/ bananaland (yes this is a proper legal term and not derogatory) it's gangbanger type of environment in the old san juan/ isle verde area and the other side of the island with the rain forest is nothing other than a jungle . very overated. Candid / honest opinion . Sorry if it's not politically correct.
