Don't know about the other places but you shouldn't be scared in America. It really depends on where you go. In the south it is very humid so you have an occasional black widow or brown recluse. But people live there all their lives and may never see one. Out west in the deserts and places....there are a few of the bigger variety.....but it isn't like they just crawl on you for the heck of it. too many movies hun! It's all good. go and forget about that! Oh, but watch for snakes!...lol

Beng T
Just out of curiosity, where do you live? Is it a country without spiders?

It is the small spiders that you should be scard of, not the big ones. Most of the dangerous ones are small. However, spider bites are rare, and antivenin is available, especially in Australia and i would suspect America, so you needn't worry.

Tink
They sure are! They bite too!!!!!

But to be fair many people that live there have no trouble from them. Go and enjoy yourself.

lulu
i live in jamaica and i have never seen a big spider.

some spiders are really big but are usually more afraid of you .. its the small ones you need to watch tho as they are usually more dangerous that the big ones.. the biggest breed in aussie i think is the huntsman but it will more likely run away from you... it also depends on what areas you are travelling to .yes spiders are around alot but if you avoid jungles and the like you should be ok
good luck

MissUnderstood
I live in Australia. I have only seen a spider about 4 times in my whole life here, and they were pretty small. If you're here on holiday and staying at a hotel, I doubt you'll see any spiders. If you're going here and staying in the outback (bush) though, you probably will see spiders.

I have no idea about Jamaica and America though.

There are No big spiders in Jamaica. Went there on our family vacation this past Aug. There were little lizards all over but no spiders.

Rachel B
Big spiders for sure - little ones are deadlier! They dont bother you tho. If you get worried - spray them!

yeh i hate spiders as well, if your in the city thay dont bother you to much, but walking in the country or gardens, thats when you can see them. Mostly they run away. and the really big ugly ones, they arnt even poisionous.

RACQUEL
We don't have extremely big spiders. There is just the normal sized ones which I don't think will be a problem to you if you visit.

Grizzly
I was in Jamaica in April 2005 and can honestly say it was the most bug and spider free place i have ever been. Go , you'll love it , I'm going back in April this year.

the spiders in oz r very big, but ok if u wear steel capped working boots, and thick leather gloves. Dont be friendly towards them unless they speal to u first
