i dont know if they have topless women there or not but when my older brother was like 13 we went to Mexico and the beaches were full of topless women. so me and my brother are walking on the coast and he stops and stares he says "there like two bowling balls!" and i dont know if she was asleep or not because she was wearing sun glasses. so i ran away from my brother out of embarrasment

It is not that bad...
I have been to Punta Cana 3 times (and am going again this July). The majority of tourists in Punta Cana are from England, Quebec and Germany. You will find most of the topless women are from Europe - and if you are picturing young, thin blonde's walking around topless, you are in for a big surprise when you get to your resort.
Topless women are not everywhere. During an average week, you may see 5-7 topless women walking up and down the beach. Generally, they are not around the main beach area (the area right in front of the resort).
These women are not flaunting themselves. They are not playing nude beach volleyball, or running around in nothing. They are sunbathing.
You will not see anyone walking in the hotel itself without clothes. Also, you may see someone sunbathing topless at the pool (very rare), but never walking around the pool.
I don't think you have anything to worry about. If your son questions anything he sees, just be honest and explain it is not indecent, or sleazy - there are cultures that do not get embarrassed by nudity.
In Italy, is common to see topless women in magazines, equivalent to People, in medical ads/feminine product ads.
I hope you enjoy your vacation. The people in the Dominican are very friendly and I always enjoy my vacations when I am visiting.

I really don't think that anyone will be traumatized by seeing bare breasts on a beach. It's a much more appropriate and natural setting than between the pages of Playboy or on the many porn sites on the internet. You may be uncomfortable, but your son will probably be somewhat curious at first and then become used to it rather quickly.

Don't let it spoil a wonderful family vacation in a beautiful location.

I've been and i saw a few and it wasn't bad at all.
I too have a 12 year old son (step son) and I explained to him the different cultures of the folks who also visit D. Republic. Unfortunately, the US has made topless beaches a taboo, but in England and other European countries...it's perfectly fine.

It's only nasty or X-rated if you make it that way. Go with an open mind and educate him on different practices and cultures. But keep in mind, he will still just be a 12 year old American boy.

I'm sure you will have fun...we did. The topless woman thing wasn't even an issue after the 2nd day there.

There are a lot of Europeans that travel to the caribbean, and the women do bath topless on the beaches of the Dominican Republic. It happens all over the Island, it is not just Punta Cana. If your resort is popluar among the Europeans than there will be a few topless women.

Almost all of the men are topless.

Usually there is a separate area for topless bathing; just e-mail your resort and ask.

Have been to punta cana twice yes there is topless women sunbathing. My son was 14 the first time we went. After seeing a couple women topless you did not even notice seeing them. No it is not that bad usually they were sunbathing on the beach.

I went to Punta Cana in October and there were topless women EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... It was pretty gross. But I do not recommend going to Punta Cana because there is Horrible restaurant service (in and out of the hotel) And the food is terrible, The ocean turns youre hair yellow, and it is the WORST vacation i've ever been on. If you do go do not fly United airlines because the will make you miss all of youre flights!!!!!!!!!!!
