Are there any sharks & jellyfish in the Caribbean?

Are you sure it's safe to swim in the water?

There are two ways you can think of the ocean:

--It's dangerous just going in
--It's dangerous if you don't know how to act

Yes there are sharks in the Caribbean. There are sharks worldwide. In the ocean there are plenty of predators that could hurt you.

But go swimming. Stay with a group, don't swim in murky water or at dusk/dawn. Don't swim if it rains and don't act like prey.

yes, there are sharks and jellyfish in the Caribbean. However, the sharks that you will encounter here are generally smaller sharks, and do not present a hazard for swimmers. Jellyfish in this area are not a year round phenomenon. They mostly drift into this area from the atlantic during sertain periods of the year.

It is still VERY safe to swim around in these waters. I lived in Curacao my whole life, and have been swimming during both day and night, pretty far outsie the coast, and nothing happend.

Yes there are. Are there any bears in the woods?

Most beaches are safe. If a danger arises, there will be an alert.

It is a safe as you make it. Out of the Billions of peoples in the water, how many do you know that got bit. I know one, that was 22 years ago. I still surf and play in the Gulf,Atlantic and where ever else I may be. There are no guarantees about safety, there is wisdom. The dusk/dawn is a good bit of advise, I have seen lotsa sharks during those times.
They don't scare me, but I respect their space. Lightening strikes, that is the nature of lightening, sharks attack when they are out of options or mistake a person for food, that is their nature.
Live with nature, or rebel against it, nature always wins.

There are sharks and jellyfish in the Caribbean. There are also barracudas. However, in all oceans there is danger. Knowing the best times and the best places to swim is key to a safe snorkeling or swimming adventure. Swim in the daytime and not at dusk or night. Stay out of murky muddy water. Stream and river mouths are a bad place to swim. If there are turtles or shark food, there are sharks.

All this being said.....the odds of a shark attack on a human are remote. Go and enjoy your trip. Buy a good snorkel and mask and have a blast!!!!!

It's most DEFINITELY SAFE. Sharks are found way out in the Atlantic. There has never been any sightings of sharks at popular beaches.
