Are there ferries between any of the caribbean islands? If so how much do they tend to cost?
regular boat between St Vincent and bequia - several times each day - fairly cheap and only takes an hour. you can take the mail boat (yes the boat that delivers mail) from st vincent to the other grenadine islands (like canouan and union island). you can take the mail boat (or a speedboat, well wooden boat with outboard)from union island to carriacou and the ferry goes from there to Grenada. nothing is that expensive really...
you can also get the daily ferry from port of spain (trinidad) to scarborough (tobago)

Ferries are usually very cheap ( i havent seen one for more than $20 US roundtrip) but only go intra-country, meaning for instance ferries will go to the outlying islands that make up Puerto Rico but not Dominican Republic for instance. Those that do go from one country to another (very few) falls under a different terminolgy, not a crusie but not a short trip or locally run ferry either. But there are plenty of vessels that do the intra-island to intra-island thing. I say PR DR because they have a special agreement where they can travel between each country for relatively cheap last time I did it it was $70.00 roundtrip that was in 2005, but say for instance there are no ferries I know of that have island hopping for all islands, just maybe two or three. Your best bet might be ryancruise. You can get off the boat when you want stay on the island and catch the next boat (usually on another day) all for less than your typical cruise!
