Goods are more expensive because they are imported from the USA or the UK. Bahamian customs charges taxes on most imported goods. The only thing that is pretty cheap on the island as Stella said is booze. Their is a thriving rum (and beer such as Kalik) producing industry in the nation. |

Ohhhh yeah! It costs 10 bucks for a bag of chips that are like the siz e a my hand. And for a bottle of water it costs 155 bucks for the small bottle! But I love it! I've been there like 4 times and you easily spend probably 10,000 dollars if you stay at Atlantis... But I LUV ATLANTIS! IT'S AWESOME! LOL! |

I have found everything is more expensive in the Bahamas in fact all of the Caribbean. Goods have to be imported. The only thing that's not expensive is the booze.
But you can still find places that aren't expensive too. Talk to the locals that live there, they will help you out with places that are more affordable.
To be honest, we save and have a budget when we travel and for 7-10 days we just enjoy ourselves. I would not travel till we have enough saved to relax and enjoy our vacation.

In the Bahamas pretty much everything is more expensive than in the United States. Especially depending on where you are staying. |
