Trinidad is my land and of which I am proud and glad
But I can't understand why some people does talk it bad
But I know all of dem who running dey mouth
Don't what dey talkin 'bout
They will talk 'bout here every day
But the right thing they would never say.
Like our sportsmen being rated among the best
Our scholars have sat and passed every test
To put us right alongside the best
But then Our Pitch Lake is the greatest one of its kind
Our sugar and oil is really refine
So you see my friends this is a real King Solomon's mine.
They does talk a lot of nonsense,
Me ain't know what they doing it for
About so much violence,
Man you could swear that we fighting war
We have our delinquents to face just like any other place
Man the things they does say 'bout here
Is really too much for me to bear.
And my people are daily making progress
Without any form of stupidness
And in this way we bong to make success
For when we moving, we all move as one body
No bickering between you and me
For Our policy stand for racial equality.
All of dem whey talking
They either drunk or staring mad
Or maybe they forgetting 2 Ms. Universe belongs to Trinidad
And yet we have men of high talent and skill
With high hope of improving still
And if you think all this is a lie the Mighty Sniper will tell you why.
For our steelband is the best talent in dis world
By calypsoes our stories are told, with rhythm to touch your soul
And Trinidad, this lovely land of my birth
Small but overwhelming in worth
And Carnival is the greatest festival on earth.
Now when a stranger spending a little time in this lovely isle
Every day you see him, he always have a happy smile
And when his time for him to depart
He would say with tears in his heart
I'll be back, you can bet your life
And if I can't come I go send my wife.
And when he tells her, he really wants to come
To drink a little rum and have plenty fun
In this island in the sun.
So Trinidad and foreigners do recall
It doesn't matter whether big or small
Or if you rich or poor
Friends we cater for one and all.
Our steelband is the best talent in the world
By Calypso's our stories are told
With rhythms to touch yuh soul
Trinidad, this lovely land of my birth
Small but overwhelming in worth
And as you know Carnival is the greatest on show on de earth. |

Proud as proud can be. Doh mind all the nonsense going on we are a united people. Just look at how we were received in Germany last year. Everyone wanted to be a Trini. Imagine our last game in Germany the stadium, I refuse to use stadia, was all red like you back home.
I wish people would stop writing about how so much crime and killing going on before they review the facts. Most of the people who are getting killed or kidnap are into crime themselves. Check the facts first people.
Anyway, Trini is home sweet home and nothing better than a yuh mother dressing you up in your Sunday best to go outside on a Sunday afternoon when you young. You spending the day at Maracus beach with your friends looking at the young ladies when you're in your teens. And coming home to a good trini woman who keep you on point and trying her best to keep them blasted kids from making noise in your head.
Trini to the bone... |

I am Trini 2 d Bone. Trinbago is my homeland and of that I am proud and glad. Steel pan in my national instrument and Carnival is the greatest show on earth. Red, white & black is my colour, and Rum & Coconut Water is my drink. Trinidad is my life and Tobago is my Paradise.
Doh mind d bobolees we have runin the country, soon (hopefully) the people will stand up and realise that we need to get a new governement with new (better) leaders and things will change.
Together we Aspire, Together we Achieve. |

I am EXTREMELY proud to be a Trini. It doesn' t matter what is happening in or to the country, negative or positive, my national pride will always exist. I thank God constantly for my beautiful country, my unique culture and my wonderful people. Bury me in my red, white and black oui! |

My Dear,
What else can we be? many people say that the Caribbean is a special place. I say if you want to experience the Caribbean just talk a trip the Trinidad. Despite the crimes that occur we have much more to be proud of, the crime will always be there because that is human nature. I think many people will agree with me when I say that Trinidad & Tobago is one of the most unique places on earth. The good still outweighs the bad by far. Trinis let's stop compaining, it could be much worse! As we say in Creole
''Annou chayé lanmou péyi-nou adan tché-nou!''
''Let's carry the love of our country in our hearts!'' |

I am a born Trini......I'll always be proud of my homeland. What's going on today does not and will not change my perspective of my homeland. Trinidad & Tobago is still a paradise. |

Of course, a few bad apples don't spoil the whole bunch.
If you still live in Trinbago, you'll find a lot to still be proud of. Besides real love, real patriotism isn't a fleeting thing, its like a good marriage, consistant during the good and bad times.
If you don't like things about Trinbago, try to fix it, that's what I say. |

I know its kinda long but I think it answers your question perfectly, at least for me. Its a piece I wrote in answer to a similar question. I hope you all enjoy it.
Don’t tell me I’m not a Trini!
by
Tracey A. Roberts
Don’t tell me I’m not a Trini just because my navel string isn’t buried there.
I know exactly where the Savannah is and that a washikong is a shoe.
I know a lime is not a fruit and a jerk is not someone acting the fool.
I know the Dial is in Arima, and Curepe Junction is the place to go for doubles in the East.
All newspaper is Gazette paper and all nail polish is Cutex.
Current could go and water could lock off.
New curtains are as much a part of Christmas as ham and pastelle.
A zog is a bad haircut, not to mention a great source of embarrassment.
To get on is not to board and to wail is not to cry profusely.
I went Primary School too. I walked home with my green school bag with the flap and the two copper buckles, in my Bata Bullets that I whitened faithfully every weekend.
I get licks with a guava whip and write plenty lines.
I chew up the brown paper after the tamarind stew done (that we sneak out of school to buy mind you) just to get that last drop of sweetness before yuh go back to face Miss.
I read about Anansi and Crick Crack Monkey.
I was hustling with everybody else to Ishmael M. Khan & Sons with my book list at the end of August holidays.
I buy lollies from a man riding his freezer box around on a bicycle.
We had our sports days in Jean Pierre.
I went to more school bazaars than I care to remember.
As with most children of my generation, Sesame Street was a huge part of our world.
I’ve heard all the stories about Papa Boi, La Diablesse, Douens, Soucoyant, Lagahoo and Jumbies.
Yes I was born in America…..so what?
I went Convent. I went grad, not prom and I drank sweet drink, not pop.
I went theatre not to the movies.
I passed the Drag Mall every day on my way down to Independence Square.
When I travel home the “drive” would say “Arima on de high, Arima through de mouse!”
and I knew exactly what he meant.
I sat CXC and GCE. My school ring came from Y de Limas.
I have played mas with Harts, Minshall, Raul Garib, Revellers and of course Burokeets.
Our music warms me. Our rhythms call to me. I yearn for it.
It is impossible for me to hear it and not move or be moved.
I think Rudder is a lyrical genius and Sparrow, Kitchener and Stalin are legends.
Machel has done amazing things for Soca.
My mouth waters at the mere thought of a good curry or a Sunday lunch complete with macaroni pie and fry plantain.
I fully understand the absolute necessity of a bake and shark after yuh bathe in the sea or a corn soup after a fete.
I ordered snack packs at KFC and Royal Castle had the best chips.
We ate Arawak chicken and Flavourite ice cream and drank Trinidad Grapefruit Juice with a dash of Angostura bitters at home. We had Milo when we take breakfast.
I waited in line by the bakery for hot hops.
To this day, I have an ongoing love affair with mangoes, guavas, pommceytheres, pommeracs and chenete.
I understand the lyrics. Yes, I’ve been bazodee over someone before and I’ve had my share of tabanca.
Mauvais langue, mamaguy and comess were my specialties.
Stormin’ has nothing to do with the weather and you can’t catch a vaps like you would a ball or a cold.
I am intimately acquainted with the beauty of the island that is Trinidad.
I have literally stood in awe of the huge waves that crash down at Maracas Bay.
A sunset from the lookout on the Lady Young is unrivaled.
A trip down the islands is as close to Paradise as you can hope to get.
I’ve followed Trinidad’s ups and downs. I remember not that long ago walking in the rain, down the stairs that the truck brought over to the plane. Now, Piarco International Airport can stand with the best of them.
I mourned when Bee Wee went under and when mas bands stopped crossing “the stage”.
I cheered when the Soca Warriors qualified for World Cup.
My pores raised when I heard Machel became the first artiste ever to sell out two shows in one night at Madison Square Garden, his first time performing there.
From my rearview mirror hangs a tassel in Trini colors.
Around my neck hangs the map of Trinidad.
The flag hangs on a keychain from my car keys.
But none of that really makes me a Trini does it?
They say your home is where your heart is…..my heart will eternally be in Trinidad.
My passion lies in all things Trinidadian.
My soul lives in the Northern Range, and the Caroni and the San Fernando Hill,
Even if my body does not.
I genuinely love my country, my culture and my people.
And THAT is why I am a Trini.
So despite what my Birth Certificate or my Passport says,
Don’t tell me I’m not a Trini.
I’m the best kind of Trini there is……
A Trini by choice!! |

My husband is 1/2 Trini (his dad's side) and I can say with great confidence that the trini's are all very proud of themselves. IDK why. Im just thanful my husband was raised by his mom in Lousiana or Id have no interest in a stuck up Trini guy. |
