Hands down Aruba is safer for anyone out of the two. Aruba is a wealthier country and there appears to be no hunger. They have a big tourism industry and an oil refining industry there.
Another place I would recommend is Cabarete, Dominican Republic if you are under 30.
Cabarete attracts a young sports minded crowd that surfs, windsurfs and Kite surfs during the day and parties all night long right on the main beach in the restaurants and clubs that line the beach.
If you are a bit older I would recommend Sosua which is only 15 minutes away.
You would fly into Puerto Plata Airport which is actually in Sosua direct from Miami, Atlanta, New York or Puerto Rico.
The Dominican Republic is the most traveled to country in the Caribbean surpassing Puerto Rico just last year to be the top destination. It is half the price of Aruba and way safer and nicer that Jamaica as well as less expensive. The Dominicans are a beautiful people and man can they dance!
Have a great time! |

Don't allow one incident to fool you. Aruba is by far much safer than Jamaica. of course, everywhere on earth has it's slight degree of danger, so just keep in mind the basic rules, like don't move around alone in uncrowded areas, follow hotel tips on where not to go, try to move in groups, and stuff like that.
Just in case, Curacao, right next door to Aruba is also a pretty safe and enjoyable place to visit. |

Neither.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is the safest place for a female alone.
Lovely place, Volcano, black sandy beaches, white sandy beaches, beautiful people, wonderful food.
But then I'm biased.
Vincy's rule! |

statistics will say Aruba since the crime rate is lower, but realistically anywhere is not totally safe for anyone especially female travelling alone,i would say try to meet friends that are not from the place you are travelling to,avoid travelling alone but if you have to, travel in open ,well lit places avoid travelling at night. |

Traveling alone is always dangerous. If you do, be carefull and don't go outside your staying area at night. |
