Seriously though, this is more of a loss for the PNP than a win for the JLP. Apparently (the final count is not yet), Bruce got a majority of the seats as well as of the popular vote. Talk about killing two birds with one stone. And Portia's post-election remarks , to me, translates to yet another loss for the PNP.

She speaks of marginal seats; yet the bulk of those went in the favour of her party so she has little to gain. What does she want...29 seats with a greater margin per seat?? Really, now.

All of Bruce's charm, his intellect, his charisma and his rhetoric have led to him now having the highest authority. Time alone will tell how he weilds that power. Will he be accommodating enough to the PNP to include them in his cabinet? Will he deliver on his election promises? If he does are taxpayers going to be asked to shoulder additional burdens? What about crime and violence? Is he really going to ensure that while I might not get rich, I don't have to be poor? Now that his team has been the one selected, is he going to be a good driver?

The winds of change have blown. Whether they will lead us to new, fair horizons or circle us back to where we already have been remains to be seen but there is reason for hope, even if that reason is only that we have a new government.

I've been wondering how the election turned out. Last I spoke to my friend it was too early to tell. Thanks for the information.

As embarrassing as Mama P is JLP barely win, them and KFC are two set a people that happy Hurricane Dean come here. They would have lost otherwise. It speak volumes that as bad as people think things are, the popular vote doesn't want the JLP. They better get their act together-people voted for them because they figured they can't do worse, not that they are confident they will do better.

Sounds like you are one happy camper. I am a bit elated as well even though I do not live in Jamaica. It is time for a change for the people. I especially liked Bruce's preelection platform that is about raising social issues related to Jamaicans.

These are three major issues in most developed nations. Until Jamaicans realize that they have be lifted up as the bars are being raised on the international front then we will have people like Portia Simpson running the country ( Tank Gad she gaan)

LOL. I am happy with the results (can I tell you, I was on the edge of my seat). At least now we will see a different party in government (different- refreshing!) The people have spoken. I expect change, not much because after 18 years is like asking for a miracle. But Change is good, very good.

Seemed fair to me, though Portia is being a spoil sport (no surprise there) by saying people were being barred from voting.
I am amazed at the turnout, but I still believe that more people should have gone out and vote. Bad timing after the hurricane, I guess.
I believe Bruce is sincere. A lot of people will say he can't be trusted because he switched parties, but hey, many people in the pnp were once in the jlp, so I don't think that should be an issue.

Overall I'm happy with the results, cuz if PNP did get one more term unda dat deh fool fool sista, I'd haffi try find my way outa dis country. Jamaica nice, but i dont think I could live unda a dictatorship - like government.

I am really happy that their will be a change..Jamaica really needed a change and I think all Jamaica feels the way I do..It was a really tense election I was at the edge at my seat..I think it was fair..Portia was just being a sore loser..she could have put Jamaica in political anarchy with her comments..very on wise of her..the voter turn out on a whole was low but honestly I think people weren't very motivated to come out and vote..whether Bruce will keep I think not as the Parliament id to close and as such JLP will not have much power to push through certain bills..maybe if the parliment was divided differently yes..
I really am ready for the CHANGE!!
