I understand how you feel, I would feel scared and mad, because I always go to Barbados. You're going for a vacation, for a good time. You aren't going for scares. So I definitely understand how you feel.

I think you should check the news for any updates, and let's pray that Dean will not hit Bahamas hard. You should still go, but remember to seek shelter, don't lose your passport.

Be safe and good luck.

Here is the latest on the storm

The best advice I can give you is call the hotels and find out what they are doing. They could be getting ready for the storm, or they could be watching it. But, if you look at that site daily, you can see what the storm is going to do. Its possible, it could turn north today, and totally miss the Bahamas.
Also, call the airline and find out what they can do, since they or you could predict a storm, they could offer you tickets at a later date, for a small fee or no fee.

What part of the Bahamas are you going too? I am in the Bahamas and we too are waiting to see where its heading.I would recommend that you speak to the airline and try use your tickets the week after the hurricane passes as well checking with the hotel for availability too in case you have to cancel because its heading toward us.It wouldn't make sense to pay a lot of money for a trip that you won't be able to enjoy.

If the hurricane limits travel, your airline will allow you to use the value of your ticket toward purchasing another ticket at some future date. Check with the airline for rules.

It's too early to get any info on cancellations now. Wait and watch.

Good luck!

Keep a watch on the weather. Call your airline ask about cancellation due to hurricanes.

I do know when a commercial airline cancels a flight due to bad weather/hurricane they will give you a time frame to fly to your destination in the event they had to cancel that flight due to a hurricane. You will have to call your hotel and ask what the policy is regarding hurricanes.

Good Luck. It is hurricane season so don't be mad. Hopefully the tropical storm will not develop into anything.

We're leaving Connecticut on Sunday for Nassau... we hope. We went in April and got messed up by the Nor' easter. We've been watching and there's nothing to indicate that it will - or won't - hit the Bahamas. Do what we're doing... pay attention but don't let it throw you off! Pack a pillow for the airport just in case!
