I've been to all 3. St. Lucia by far. It's much more untainted without being boring. And definitely take a sail boat tour of some kind. Besides St. Lucia, you can sail to the Grenadines. The Grenadines are like heaven on earth. In that area all the other islands are jealous of how well St.Lucia does tourism. Better customer service for visitors, everything is located in 1 spot so you don't get lost & the people are more welcoming that neighbouring islands. (I'm not from there by the way, so I have no bias).

I live in Barbados and there is lots to see and do. There is Harrison's Cave with its stalactites and stalagmites. It is a guided tour with trams. There are botanical gardens, the East Coast is breathtaking. Not only that. The architecture here is very interesting. The people are very friendly and are always willing to help especially when they realise you are a visitor. You are made to feel like you belong here. Take the Barbados/ St. Lucia cruise.

Curacao, Aruba and Bonaire are Dutch Caribbean islands. Since you are on a cruise ship, chances are that you arrive in one port by 7.00 A.M and depart by the evening. You have one day for coastal excursions. Since Curacao and Aruba are so similar, there is very little difference in scenery. However, St. Lucia changed hands between France and England about 14 times so the culture in St. Lucia is part French. The fact that it is mountainous and has waterfalls offers some lush scenery. Barbados by contrast is an exceptionally flat, coral-based formerly British island. In the St. Thomas section of the island in an area named Welch’s Hall; there is the very attractive Harrison's Cave with beautiful stalagmites and stalactites. Take the Barbados St. Lucia cruise. If it stops in Antigua/Barbuda you will really get a bargain because Antigua is the "in" favourite of the Caribbean destinations. This is how you plan your excursions: take the St. Lucia island tour--the one going to Soufriere. Do not take those going to the north of the island. In Barbados, take the tour to Harrison's cave and on the way back, offer the cab driver a few extra bucks to bring you back by the South coastal route. The island tours are subdivided into sections. Do not buy the island tour because the island is very flat and has a lot of cane fields. Buy instead the tour to Harrison's Cave and talk to your cab driver on the way back. If the tour has Antigua as its first stop, buy your duty free liquors in Antigua--they have the best prices in liquors, excellent shopping and take the Nelson Dockyard Tour returning through the rain forest. If you get those three islands on any itinerary, you would have scored big time.

Boaz.
