It's a matter of choice & what types of things you two like to do. If beautiful beaches & relaxation is your thing, I'd suggest St. Vincent & the Grenadines (check Bequia & Mustique), St. John (USVI), Virgin Gorda (British Virgin Islands) or Anguilla. If you would like to island hop, you could go to St. Thomas & hop on a ferry to St. Croix, St. John, Tortola (and from Tortola check out other islands in the BVI). From St. Maarten, you can hop over to Saba, St. Eustatius & Anguilla.

If you two can scuba dive or like nature, Dominica is beautiful, and great for waterfalls & eco-tourism. Trinidad also has great eco-tourism as well as nightlife, but the beaches aren't as nice. Their sister island, Tobago is a short flight away & you could do both islands easily.

If you want a balance of nightlife and beach, I'd suggest Barbados. They have very nice beaches, and accomodation to fit every budget. St. Lucia is also a good choice, and may be an option if you're looking for a Sandals resort. Jamaica has nightlife & plenty of all-inclusive resorts at reasonable prices, though I prefer to do activities throughout the island & don't care for resorts as much as others do.

Grand Cayman, Aruba & St. Maarten offer gambling, and while very different from one another, they all have nice beaches and many airlines such as Spirit have good deals going to these destinations.

I don't think you can go wrong with any island, as they all have their own unique trait. Some are really meant for peace and quiet, while others have more activities for a more active crowd.

Teemu ...that answer totally depends on what you want or what your girlfriend wants because the caribbean islands though they share some similarity are a bit different in culture AND WHAT THEY OFFER.
If you are looking for the beaches and night life,Sun sand and sea vacation which everyone has been to..(bit overrated and back in the day if u ask me) then places such as Barbados Anguilla Antigua etc will be perfect for you all.
BUT if you are looking for much more than that .If you are looking for some romantic private time with your girlfriend in a place where you can get away from it all, away from the overcommercialsed spots and overcrowded beaches. If what you looking for is one which will be memorable, unique then the island of Dominica is ideal (NB* not to b mistaken with the Dominican Republic).Main island where Pirates of the Caribbean 2&3 was filmed(u can have an idea of the beauty and greenery)
If the private romantic one of a kind vacation is what you are looking for to get away from it all..then Dominica is ideal because IT REALLY IS as branded "the best kept secret of the caribbean".This prestine green island with towering mounatains, 365 rivers gushing down its valleys focuses on eco-tourism and not the concrete 5star kinda Sun sea and Sand vacations. Therefore one of the most popular and common accomdation are those private family runned villas and hotels situated in the rainforests with natural sulpher spring spas(sure u havent heard of this one) on the property in the rainforests..away from the hustle.....picture that relaxation.
The island is also suited for the adventurous with. There are many one of a kind sites existing here such as our Boiling lake which is the 2nd largest ,largest of ITS kind and only one in the western hemisphere!

I will provide links of webistes about the island and also the trip advisor page so that u could have reviews and past experiences of people who have visted the island and stayed at various hotels etc..IF you do Choose Dominica..jus like to say welcome to my GENUINLY friendly island.

Look in to Curacao.
Curacao has very beautiful beaches, great forest hikes, biking and horseback riding, snorkling, boat trips to Klein Korsow (little Curacao, small island of the coast), nice hotels, great shopping, awsome restaurants, and many other attractions. Nad pretty much, girls looove dolphins, so the Dolphin Academy is worth looking in to.

Trunk Bay in St. John. It's rated as the number one beach in the world. I can actually speak from experience, you wont believe how peaceful it is. Your girlfriend will love you for it. White sand, clear cool water, man it's just awesome. My wife and I went their two years ago, and I'm sure it's the same or better. I like the fact that it's in an alcove, makes it seem like your in a different world. Trust me you wont go wrong with this choice, hope this helps in your decision peace.

Antigua is amazing... I got married there in Jan... And it was just incredible. I would suggest Sandals , the Verandahs, St. James Club, Galley Bay... We did tours of those properties... And they seemed absolutely beautiful.

I also love St. Marteen/St. Martin.... It's one of the most beautiful island I've ever been to; however, there isn't much to do there ... aside from shopping.

St. Thomas is nice too; but too Americanized.

St. John is wonderful if you just want to relax and do nothing.

Jamaica is nice too; but I would recommend only staying at a resort...that had plenty to do to keep you busy. (unfortunately, there is a lot of crime there). My best friend loves it ... but only stays at her resort during her entire trip. My husband's colleague was robbed in Jan during the Jazz Festival.

My husband and I are looking for our destination for this summer... we are looking at St. Lucia or Bermuda... I have never been... but I've heard good things.

Best of luck

Antigua is a little piece of paradise . ANTIGUA has 365 LOVELY beaches, warm, friendly, inviting accommodating people. Delicious local dishes, lots to see and do.

Lovely sites, hikes, explore the coral reefs - you can feed the fish. Get a taste of the night life - clubs, etc... so much so much so much..... Oooh I forgot to mention the Sunsets....... breath-taking and the moonlight sky with the stars all aglow......

If you are divers...Bonaire. I recommend Curacao to everyone because it is not as touristy as say Aruba, but not as quiet as Bonaire. There is a nice balance of serenity and night life. (I am partial to Bonaire because my family is building a house there : ) )
