All of the major areas of Jamaica are the "best." The issue is really which resorts fits you best. There are generally 3 types: romantic, relaxing, and fun. Pick which works best for you and you can begin to narrow down the right resort for you. Do a lot of thinking as to what you want and don't want in a resort and you will begin to devise your perfect vacation. When you make those decisions go to TripAdvisor.com and type in Jamaica in the search area. You will be able to research every resort on the island. Look at the amenities of each resort and you will quickly be able to put it in your "possible" list or to eliminate it.

In short, do some homework to come up with what you want in a resort and then find one to match it. It won't be that hard since resorts are all unique and offer different things. Have fun doing this and have a great trip!

I am a huge fan of Couples- Negril! Negril itself is 7 miles of beaches. Beautiful, no matter what resort you stay at.

I would advise you visit Jamaica any time between December and July. It's not as expensive and it's not hurricane season! (But most hotels/resorts have a hurricane policy for you anyway.....)

Grand Lido Negril is amazing. I stayed there last year. Couples Negril is great and if you're young and freaky Hedonism III in Negril is good too. So yeah, go to Negril. It's a very laid back town with lots of all inclusive hotels.

As a local, I love Port Antonio. It has no all inclusive hotels but I believe it's the most beautiful town in the most beautiful parish on the island. The drive to get there can be a bit rough though because the roads are being fixed.

The best time of year is during july... the gurricane season is usually not very active until september and many parties and so on go on at that time. Ocho Rios and Negril for watersports and Montego Bay for the other finer things in life.
I love Riu Ocho Rios and Negril and Holiday Inn Sunspree in Montego Bay

Best area to stay? That's at tricky one.
It all depends. This page may help you:

It depends on what you are looking for and your interests. The least expensive time to travel is June-September if a lack of funds is an issue for you. If you want to hang out with locals and experience Jamaican culture, then stay away from the all-inclusive resorts.
