There are a lot of beaches to choose from. Rockley Beach known as Accra is one of the beaches that are popular. There are Enterprise/Miami beach in Oistins. Rockley Beach has a playground, which is a plus for your kids. I've been to Barbados 5 times, and I'm going there again, this time taking my 20 years old brother. :)

Across Rockley Beach, there's Chefette (sp?), a restaurant. The beach at The Crane is very neat, too. There ARE A LOT OF NEAT beaches. :) You'll have a great time.. Just look out for your valuables since there are pickpocketers but then again, that applies everywhere.

Hope this helps.

I was in Barbados 4 years ago and had a marvellous holiday. Although I don't have young children I know there are plenty of places for them to have fun. They do a fantastic 'Safari' day trip in Land Rovers, enjoyable for all the family. Also there are trips to caves, nature reserve, etc. Very enjoyable was the trip in a submarine, those fish are amazing.
I can't remember the name of the place, but there is an excellent beach just outside Bridgetown with jet skis, banana boating, kayaks, icebergs to climb, and an open air restaurant. There is plenty of space here for you to laze whilst keeping an eye on your children.
A visit to Sandy Lane is essential. Lovely beach there, and you can hire a small catamaran with driver very cheaply. This will take you out along the coast to look inland at where the rich and famous live.
There are also larger catamarans for days out, meals served on board, with stops for snorkelling, swimming with turtles and all the fantastic fish.
Have a great holiday.

Playing Nice
Try staying on the west coast, the watersports are better there. On the south coast, go to Carlisle Bay, that is the place she is referring to above.

The best family resort that is not ridiculously expensive is Accra Beach Resort.

Almond Beach Adult and Family Village. 9 pools,4 restaurants,5 bars,9 hole golf course, water sports and it's an all-inclusive. perfect for children who are always hungry and thirsty. (Mom & Dad) too. (4 star resort)

Have a fun time.

i find that www.tripadvisor.co.uk is good for reviews. My wife and i went to the Colony Club in barbados in St James for a week, it was very nice. If it were my choice though i would give Barbados a miss and head for St Lucia, its unimaginably better....

That sounds cool and relaxing. Right you are about the kids having fun, and the adults just chill and relax.

I have to dissagree with Phillip as Barbados has WAY more and WAY nicer beaches than St Lucia.
Pretty much all the hotels here have organized activities for the kids for some of the day / week. Lots of water sports too either pool or sea.
It is also easier to get around here.
BTW Colony Club is very nice and walking distant to Holetown and some shopping. Also walking distant to the Folkstone Marine Park where if swimmers, the kids can spend hours, safely, snorkleing and exploring the reefs while you laze on the shore.
So come on down!
