Best gentle/quiet beach for young kids in Puerto Rico? |
We're hoping to visit Puerto Rico in July. We're looking to stay near/on a beach with very gentle waves, since our kids are young and are not strong swimmers. I've heard that Luquillo might be a good choice... We do want to stay on the main island (not Vieques or Culebra).
We'll spend some time in El Yunque and in Old San Juan, but other than that (and the beach), I'm out of ideas. Do you have any suggestions for a gentle beach and/or vacation activities?

Yes Luquillo is a good option, in general the sea is more calm than other beaches in areas like Isla Verde or Condado. The beach can be crowded on summer weekends especially on Sundays and holidays and my recommendation is to go on Saturday or another week day. If your are planning to stay on San Juan check the Caribe Hilton the private beach is completely calm and excellent for the kids. They have good activities in the Summer. |

I don't know exactly how quiet Luquillo beach is. July is right in the middle of beach season, too. But it is calm. If you are staying in San Juan, many hotels have beaches in bays that are very calm. (Wave wise)

The beaches in GUANICA are very good for kids ... except the one called "Playa Santa" ... 'cause it doesn't have anything de SANTA !!! Too much going on !! Too much party most of the time .. definately not a kids beach !
