Extra Cheese, Please!

Best place in Carribbean to go for November honeymoon?

We want to dive and snorkel, and definately some place with gorgeous beaches we can swim at. We want good nightlife, good food, and we are on a budget so nothing too expensive like St Barts or the Caymans. I was thinking St. Thomas, because I've been there already and loved it, or Belize for the diving and jungles. Some other options are St. Lucia and the Dominican Republic. Has anyone been to either of those?

Also, my fiance doesn't like cruises. We would prefer to stay somewhere on the beach, in a hotel so we can sleep in and not have to wake up early every day for cruise excursions.

I have been to both St. Lucia and Dominican Republic and St. Lucia is especially quaint. Nevertheless, Barbados is a good place to come for your honeymoon. We are famous for honeymoons. Read a little about Barbados below.

Information on Barbados

Barbados is a coral island, pushed out of sea by volcanic activity in a far away time. On the West Coast of Barbados, coral shore beaches of fine white sand stretch along a blue-green sea. Coral reefs fringe the Barbados shoreline to provide excellent snorkeling and Scuba Diving. Along the East Coast a lively surf is blown briskly by the strong and constant trade winds and the waves pound against a rocky shore. The constant breeze of the trade winds gives Barbados a mild and pleasant tropical climate.

When you visit Barbados, you will see it is mostly a flat coral island with excellent beaches, but there are rolling hills and many deep ridges and gullies, with an interesting distribution of flora and fauna. Within the Barbados coral core there is a vast array of caves and underground lakes which provide an excellent supply of drinking water that is amongst the purest in the world. Geologically Barbados is unique, being actually two land masses that merged together over the years. This and other anomalies make this Caribbean Island quite phenomenal, and there are geological structures that you will find only in Barbados.
Barbados Expectation
Barbados is a very beautiful island, with lots of art, activities, night life, music, history and some of the best restaurants to be found anywhere. But what makes Barbados even more special, and the reason why so many visitors keep returning to the island year after year, is the people. Barbadians, called Bajans, are warm and friendly souls, always ready to greet you with a sincere smile. Barbadians make you feel welcome and special, in this lovely Caribbean Island. You will feel its your home and will want to come back again and again to Barbados: A unique Caribbean paradise, surprisingly sophisticated, friendly, fun and always Naturally Charming!

Alternatively there is the Crane Hotel which has one of the top 10 best beaches in the world. We are surrounded by beach although some might be a bit too rough for bathing.

Hey Extra Cheese Please,

I've been to just about all of the places you're thinking about except St. Barts. Might I suggest Tortola. You said you had a wonderful time in St. Thomas, which is only 50 minute ferry ride away. There is little crime unlike Punta Cana, the people speak English which I assume you do to, and their currency is the US dollar. The beaches are unbelievable, but really they are everywhere in the Caribbean. Tortola has some great snorkeling beaches take a look at this page for some of the best ones http://www.vacationtortola.com/Best-Beaches.html . Tortola has a good nightlife, including their world famous full moon parties at Bomba's Shack. The food is also excellent, try the Sugar Mill Restaurant, it's been voted one of the 4 best restaurants in the Caribbean. You can also get pretty cheap accommodations and meals if you know where to go. As far as where you should stay on your honeymoon I would suggest something like Sebastian's Seaside Villas, or Long Bay Beach Resort is right on the beach.

I've been to all of the above. I'd go with St-Lucia for sure. Stay at a Sandals if it's within your budget. I don't have anything against kids but it's great to not have to listen to kids crying/ screaming on your honeymoon!

As an avid SCUBA diver, I have been all over the Carribbean. I suggest you try Anthony's Key Resort on Roatan Island, part of the Bay Islands off the coast of Honduras.

GORGEOUS tropical paradise where you can dive, snorkle, wind surf and swin with dolphins in a beautiful setting.

My husband and I got married there on the beach in 1992 and go back every year.

They have a website. www.anthonyskey.com Tell them Jim & Rebecca sent you!

Why not take a cruise and go to several? If you are on a budget this is the best way to do it since it includes your room, food, lots of entertainment and takes you to a few different islands. Plenty of nightlife choices, all the things you want are right there. You can do a great cruise for around $1000. I am a cruise specialist and we have an online registry so family and friends can contribute to your cruise which is a nice option for those who don't know what to get. I would be glad to help find the right cruise for you. My info is below.
