Best beaches: Varadero, no doubt
Regarding nightlife, etc, etc, it will be ALL CUBA as soon as fidel and the brudder have departed this world that they contributed to make so cruel |

Havana has the best nightlife and loads of historic buildings. The city itself doesn't have much in the way of beaches. The eastern beaches are reasonable, and some people rave about the atmosphere of the suburbs there - Guanabo etc.
If you want the best beaches, they are near Varadero, Cayo Coco, Guaralavaca - all some distance from the historic cities. |

Highly Favoured

There are many beautiful beaches in Cuba including Playa ParaÃso and Playa Sirena and Varadero among others.
if you like crowds then Casa la Musica, Club Torquino and other dancng places in Havana are the places for you. if you prefer less crowds then Trinidad and Vinale are the places for you.
For old pics Old havana is the best place to go.

Varadero - Picturesque, beaches are clear blue, sand is white - snorkelling or scuba diving here was amazing. Cienfuegoes is better for diving but the beaches aren't as nice IMHO. You can swim with dolphins in varadero too and go skydiving.
Santa Clara - Che Guevera's tomb and museum are there plus old cigar factories so go there for some pics, the museum is only open on certain days - its a one day stop kinda place though - kinda boring after that.
Trinidad - AMAZING!!!! make sure you take a horse through the mountains, you'll see mangoe grooves and even a natural waterfall. very quiet place but sooooo good, maybe a day or two here.
HAVANA!!!! the place to spend most of your time, cuba doesnt have that great a night life anywhere really atleast not by western standards but in havana there is the tropicana which is a good show to see at night! also on friday nights hundreds/thousands of locals gather on the malecon (its main beachfront) they play a bit of music too and everyone is really really social. Theres a cuban rum museum there which is fun too. All the images you have of cuba in your mind are from havana, old buildings everything. I think the hotel ingleterra is situated in the perfect location and the service was great last time i was there.
Cuba is mostly about culture, if you're going for clubs - wrong place, however there is beautiful people, beautiful country and beautiful culture. Try and catch a baseball game or the cuban ballet too. And lastly the food isn't that great at all!!! but like i say its all about culture. You should definately stay in a casas particulares while you're out there trust me they really are as good as everyone says they are.
My advice: Plan activiaties and find out what days you want to do them and phone ahead to book if possible to avoid dissapointment! |
