Hello,
could someone recommend where would be the nicest place to scuba dive in the carribean? Are there coral reefs somewhere?
I want to go with a 3 friends, and none of us have scuba dived before. Is there someway an instructor can take us down? is it costly? Would it be cheaper to get a licence down there?
I'm somewhat of a novice that always wanted to scuba dive, so if someone can answer at least some of my questions, it would be a great help, thanks! Additional Details St. Lucia is very nice, thanks for the suggestion.
Looks like a very expensive flight though!
Check out St Croix. Here is a link. Hopefully this link will answer some of your questions.

Curacao offers some amazing diving sites. some can be reached from the beach, which eliminates the need for a boat.

may I suggest St.Vincent & the Grenadines....You can do your resort dive with any dive shop. St.Vincent is a volcanic island there fore there are loads of dive sites where you can wall dive, reef dive or begin right from the sea shore. There are numerious reck dives as well. Once you and your team have done a couple dives off the mainland you can venture down the Grenadine islands with the same dive company to see many more sites. I granantee you will not regret it!!
I learnt to dive in these parts and was not disappointed. Have a look at dive places online such as:
Dive St.Vincent
Dive Bequia (these people are serious but also know how to have fun before and after the dive)
Rates may differ so have a look on their websites for the package prices. Enjoy!! Its a beautiful thing to experence.

Whatever place you choose for scuba diving verify if there is a Recompression Chamber. Scuba diving takes only 2 hours a day max. So the rest of the time is important too. There are lots of good places to go in the Caribbean. Surf the net and look what you like. For novices I recommend Bonaire as one of the save places to go.
