Best place to vacation in Jamaica? |
I want to visit Jamaica this summer in July. I know it's the low season..
I would like to go somewhere where it's on a beach, with great clubs to party within close vicinity.. Somewhere where I can mingle with actual Jamaicans, not just tourists. |

I stayed a little West of Ochi outside of Runaway bay for a week and lived with locals up in the hills. If you want to see the "real Jamaica" it's a fun way to surround yourself with great people, great food and an all around wonderful experience. In the course of a week I saw about 5 other white people and they all looked like strange tourist to me ;-)
For parties the locals can bring you to a local dance party in St Ann or Ochi. Just get some sleep since they party all night long!
Let me know if you want some links to my photos of the trip. |

i live in jamaica and i've vacationed almost everywhere...(yay!) but, assuming money isn't an issue and you're going with a group of people i suggest Fortlands Point. Its a mansion owned by some acquaintances of mine. Its located on Millionaires strip in Discovery Bay, just outside of ocho rios. i think its the best way to get to see jamaica without the crudeness of the vagrants etc.; you'll be able to experience the locals at their best while sleeping, swimming, tanning and jet-skiing all day! :p |

Port Antonio Unless you like to be surranded by a lot of tourists trying to do the same thing you are...and that would be vacation! It's about four hours drive from Montego Bay or about three hours from Kingston... Offers great deals on private Villas and some pretty cool hostels... check out chateaenexotica.com and ask for Henri and tell him Bobbi sent ya! GREAT PLACE, SMALL PRICE for paradise! |

Ok, let me assist you...based on your interests there are only a few places you can stay that will allow you to be near a beach and in close proximity to a club....Never mind about meeting Jamaicans because anywhere you decide to stay in Jamica you will be able to meet Jamaicans if you want to..
The areas are as follows;
1. Negril - This area has a 7 mile beach strip and is also located in the heart of it all..clubbing, beach, parties, Jamaicans, just name it you can get it here...
2. Mobay - This area has about 3-4 beautifull beaches and the club is located right on the "Hip Strip" so too the clubs..
3. Ocho Rios - Nice beaches are here too, but this area has the most popular waterfalls in the Caribbean and the clubs are in close proximity too...
There are a few other places i can recommend, but you will have to have a Jamaican friend to take you around..Those are the primary areas... If you need any assistance in tours, transportation, accommodation etc... Please feel free to contact me....Or join my Travel Club where you cn meet alot of friendly, safe and fun Jamaicans..

Jamacia is beautiful but also depression. There's a big difference b/t the havs and hav nots. there alot of poverty and time are hard right now. Montego bay and Ocho Rios are pretty. there's a hotel next to a hot natural spring u can bathe in thats not fancy, but nice and u can mingle w/ the "natives" there. ull hav more fun in a hotel next to the beach though bc, there are less mosquitos and its cleaner. alot of kids beg for money and its really sad.
I personally enjoy Barbados more. the beach is a short walking distance and its economy is alot more stable. but its more expensive.
Hav fun!!! |
