I would say The Melia Las Americas in Varadero, it's 35 minutes from the airport they are 24 hours which is always good, and they have nightly entertainment. Breezes is also another favourite, they also offer 24 hour drinks, they have a disco , and room service for breakfast. Lastly Blau Varadero, the a la cartes are verygood, they have nightly entertainment and the staff are wonderful. In Varadero you can leave and go out at night, being careful of course!!

La Rumba - 10 pesos to get in & 1 peso a drink
The Cave - 10 pesos to get in & 1 peso a drink
International - 10 pesos to get in & 1 peso a drink
The Mediterranean - 10 pesos to get in & 1 peso a drink

=)

Well, everyone goes to Varadero, which is on a peninsula east of Havana. The beach is the best in Cuba, and there are plenty of all inclusive hotels. To be honest, if all you want is sun and sand and nightlife then Varadero is your best bet. The downside is that you won't see any of the rest of Cuba, which is a fantastic country, and the only Cubans you'll meet will be serving your drinks & food. When I went to Cuba I just bought flights and did my own thing when I got there. I got to stay with Cuban families, and saw almost the whole country, which was so much more rewarding than the standard all inclusive deal to Varadero.
If you do stay at Varadero, make sure you take one of the day trips to Havana, about 2 hours away. Old Havana is an absolute treasure, and though you will be pestered by touts selling Cuban cigars/rum/girls etc I guarantee you will love the place. If you get some free time, take a walk over to the other parts of the city,Centro Havana and in particular Miramar, where all the old art deco buildings are still perfectly preserved, and the old American classics cruise the boulevards; you could almost be in 1950's Miami.
The Cubans themselves are very friendly and welcoming, and are immensely proud of their country, so taking a little time to see things off the usual tourist trail will almost always pay dividends. Crime is not an issue, and I would describe Cuba as the safest country I've ever visited. Eating out can be a bit of a minefield; all restaurants are state owned, so even if they kill you with their food (and believe me it happens) the staff won't be fired. The all inclusive hotels serve good food so that's not a problem,, but if you eat out in Varadero or Havana, choose carefully. Best option is to find a "paladar", which is a private home which serves food. These are just brilliant, where you can be served a huge meal of fresh red snapper and veg, potatoes, rice & beans etc, for $10 (about £5), and the food is invariably delicious. Finding a paladar isn't hard; any tout will be only too happy to show you (they will expect a small commission, $2 or $3).
Girls travelling there will find the Cuban men a bit wearing, they aren't pervy but they ARE very persisitent, and any female tourist will receive several marriage proposals a day!

Have a GREAT trip and make sure you drink lots of lovely Havana Club too!

Sounds like Varedero would be right up your street, plenty of nightlife in Varedero town and spectacular beaches, the food in Cuba is plain but tasty, if your into burgers and fish and chips its not the place to go, just good honestly home cooked plain food that's beautiful, other parts of Cuba like Guadalavacia are lovely too but a tad quieter than Varedero and the Cayos such as Cayo Coco are just so beautiful and peaceful, very romantic but with little to do in the evenings, Cuba has the most beautiful beaches, its like having silver velvet between your toes and the ocean is to die for, bath tub warm and amazing with fish swimming around you, the Cubans are wonderful laid back people who will go out of their way to make you holiday even better for you, hope this helps and hope you have a fabulous time if you decide its the place for you, good luck.

If you want beaches, go to the Superclubs property in Varadero. If you want to be in the city, I highly recommend the Habana Libre hotel in La Habana (Havana) - it's a five star resort and I was quite impressed when I stayed there - but that was three years ago.

I don't recommend the Villa Panamericano - I stayed there twice (two trips organised by other people) and I was NOT impressed either time. Shell out the extra bucks for more "stars".

We stayed a Playa Alameda near the end of the strip of the hotels, we had the best holiday ever. The beach is fantastic and the sea was nice and calm when we went. The Cuban people are some of the nicest people you will come across, they were happy approcable and very friendly!! We went out in Varadero and we went to Havana for 2 days and always felt safe, (went to the Dominican the year before and I never felt safe when we were out there). The Cuban people do not have much but they never asked us for tips, we did tip and we took presents for them. I really feel in love with Cuba and can not wait to go back, but we are off the the Maldives at the end of the month as we got a fantastic deal.

Don't listen to these complete idiot yanks who believe any propaganda their goverment tells them. It does sound like varadero is right up your street its the nicest beach I have ever seen the night life is really good. But if you go there try and take a couple of day trips to see the rest of the country as Varadero is not typical of the rest of the country

monkey
ive just booked to go to varedero in october so if you go before me let me know how it went please.

Cuba is beautiful, it has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, the people are warm and friendly. But unfortunately because of fidel castro and his government. Cubans live under a constant state of oppression. A few years ago 75 people were imprisoned and some were sentenced for up to 30 years for having private libraries and lending the books. One man Dr Bicet a Doctor (black) was sentenced to 30years for talking to people about Martin Luther King and Gandhi. Bu it is a lovely place, and if you can enjoy yourself, while they are all starving for basic civil liberties, have fun, enjoy yourself.

The beaches of Varadero are the loveliest, unspoilt and heavenly white sand beaches I have ever seen. There are quite a few resorts on the miles of beaches of Varadero - 2 hours from Havana - Super Clubs have a few properties there.

being American I wouldnt know, I have heard the country is in really bad shap though so be careful. BTW can you get me some cuban cigars while your there

Mrs. Obama rules!
Try another country in the Caribbean please. Do not support communist governments by going to the resorts there. Cuban people do not see a single dollar of tourism, it all goes to the government and people are starving.
