Can American Residents go to CUBA az a tourist ?

I have America's Green Card and I'll be American Citizen in a few years...
Is it possible for me to go to Cuba az a tourist and will that cause any problem for my america's residentship....

Because I've heard that if you go t Cuba your Green Card would be canceled and your not allowed to go to America Anymore...

:( ...
Additional Details
I just read this from someone else's answer to a similar question...
Rosa b : " Being an american citizen you need to travel through a third country (e.g.Mexico, Canada, Jamaica). I mean, you need to travel to any of these countries and from there to Cuba. When you go through customs in Cuba, they won't stamp your passport so you don't get in trouble. "

I forgot to mention that even though I have my America's Green Card I live in Canada ... But Still I'm not a Canadian Citizen... I wanted to know does it make any difference if I go to Cuba from Canada with my own Country Passport...

As an american resident LEGALLY if you do not have a relative there, no you cant , but when there is a will there is a way , people travel there as it was explained to you previouslly.
One of the Dept of Treasure requirements to issue the permit is that in order to travel there you have to have a close relative ( and to prove it u need to provide that person's ID # , like you driver's licence # and the adress where you will be staying) and have not been there in the last 3 years, then you may apply for the permit that is only good for 180 day ( not 6 months but 180 days). That is the reason why so many people use a 3rd country to travel there. If you do not have a relative or go to study or if you are not a journalist ( did you see Mat Lauer from NBC a few days ago on National TV reporting from Havana city? he was allowed as a journalist) , dont seem very likelly they would allow you to travel there.

I believe you can fly to another country first (Mexico, Guatemala, etc.) and then fly from there to Cuba. Not too sure about getting back though....

Try going on your country of birth passport with Canadian residency from Canada, but you know these days there is better communication between the Us and Canada.

the requirement is for US citizens the rest is harassment.

you probably can't go to cuba, or buy anything from cuba or you would lose your green card, too bad, because Cuba is a great vacation destination, many Europeans go there.

same goes for north korea, can't go or buy anything from there.

Yup, youd be right.

Travel to Cuba has been banned for Americans since it became communist.

Also, Americans are even prohibited from smoking Cuban cigars, regardless of where they are on the planet, due to the same restrictions.

i am pretty sure that americans can't go to cuba...it is like being a traidor or something...

Well I mean you can pretty much do and go where you please but Cuba does not have a very stable gov. as of now so It would not be the wisest idea to go there.
