Can Americans travel to Cuba now?

Does the Cuban Government now allow Tourists from the United States.

Another question, how will I be treated in Cuba as a black person?

I don't think Americans go travel from America. I was there last year and American planes couldn't land in Cuba so Americans had to travel from Canada.
I doubt you would be treated poorly as a black person as most Cuban's are black as well. I found that if you treated them with respect you got the same in return. If you are on a resort that is all inclusive still tip as they are not paid much. You will receive much better service, aka tables reserved for you at dinner, you drink will never be empty and overall more friendly.

Yes. fidel loves tourists, especially because they bring dollars

About being black, not a problem, just don't criticize the regime

And who told you that you can speak ?
Go buy an elephant

Cuba is our country. If there are comunists from inside and outside of the country soiling it, a few yanks won't mind

comunists make much more soiling

Fidel will kiss you when you get off the plane. He will make everybody treat you like a king since you have dollars and you are helping to make him richer and us poorer.

We have black in our blood so we don't have a problem with that.

The Cuban government has no restrictions to US Citizens, is the US government that does not allowed US citizens to visit Cuba and US airplanes to go there.

most posters here are correct the cuban govt will allow you in but the american govt doesn't want you to go (something about controlling what their people see and think) so you have to go via canada or mexico ( countries that are democracies and allow their citizens free will).
And Cuba a real mix of colours some of the black Cubans i spoke to said that the police are a bit harder on them than the mixed/white people but the average Cubans were friends with everyone race not an issue.

Sure you can go. But understand that the Cuban government will not turn you away. They have no problem with you visiting their country. They even won't stamp your passport. It's the US government that has the issue with your travels to Cuba because it's really the issue of spending money there.

Either way, thousands of of Americans go to Cuba every year and most go via a 3rd country without any problems.

As a black person? Cubans are multi-racial and pretty much don't see in colour, if you know what I mean. You will be treated respecfully as every human should.

Beardo, Riki and the others are right in what they say.

Check out these links to help you out with the info of how to get to Cuba if you wish to go through 3rd country.

You'd love Cuba....most of all the people themselves.

the cuban government does not have a problem with americans traveling to cuba, its the USA that has the problem with its people traveling to cuba.
go threw canada, cuba does not stamp your passport.

Beardo
The Cuban government welcomes tourists from any country and has done so for many years.

It is the US government that doesn't want its citizens to go to Cuba as tourists. Nothing much has changed there - they have extended the definition of those who can travel to visit family.

Many thousands of US citizens ignore the rules and travel via third countries (Mexico, Canada, Bahamas) to Cuba. The vast majority have no problems.

The majority of Cubans are black or mixed-race. Some might mistake you for a Cuban, until you speak - then they'll know you are foreign.

Riki
The Cuban government has no restrictions on Americans wishing to visit Cuba and does not stamp passports. As a black person you will have no problems, Cubans are multi-racial and will treat you like visiting royalty.

I'm guessing Americans just need permission from both governments? Not sure.
How will you be treated as a black person? Uh, like a human being. It doesn't matter what race you are Cuba is full of whites + blacks. Don't worry if you go you won't be treated any differently from other tourists.

casey s
No, we don't want any Americans dirtying up the place.

Of course, Americans are welcome in Cuba, the problem is that the US doesn't want them to go, I am cuban and the US doesn't want me to go, so what I do is I go to Cancun and then from Cancun to Havana with Mexicana Airlines, or you can go to Panama and from there to Havana with Copa Airlines. The cuban government knows the problems here so they wouldn't even stamp your passport so nobody would know you were there, as a tourist you'll get the best service regardless your ethnic so you shouldn't worry about it. If you would have any question just let me know, my e-mail is sergio_r_8 in yahoo so I'd be more than glat to answer. You would need to entry permit that you can buy to the airline once you buy the plane ticket that it works like a visa and they give it to everybody. It would cost you between $10-$20 dollars, no more than that, well I hope I answered your question.
