A few years ago, I went to India on my own and everybody told me I was going to be killed or have my kidney sold on the black market etc. and how dangerous it was for me.

To be honest, there were a few hair raising moments which were my own fault for going into the wrong parts of town - but that's no different from being at home really! I am sure that in your town, there are places you wouldn't go alone after dark?

So what I suggest is: don't worry about the dangers and the Urban Myths, just go and enjoy it. Take sensible precautions with your passport, money etc. and don't do anything reckless and you will be fine. As a rule of thumb, if you wouldn't do at home, then don't do it there.

NO IT,S NOT DANGEROUS , The cubans are very nice helpfull people & it a great holiday desination
We have been to guardalavca and varedero 3 times since 1996 to 2001

It is safer than most other places that you would go on holiday.

I visit Cuba alone, staying in an apartment in the centre of a small town, taking the same personal security care that I would in the UK.

I've never had a moment's concern,

I have been to Cuba twice this year - once with my partner the other occasion with my daughter - on both occasions I felt safe - but obviously - we did not flaunt jewellry etc., and took the same precautions we would use if we travelled else where

every where you go you have to be careful even in Britain.
we went to Cuba last year and i felt very safe the year before we went to the Dominican and i did not like going off the resort, but in Cuba we went out in the town in varadero around the markets and i felt safe we went to Havana we were more cautious but we were fine. if your going having a fantastic time i love Cuba

No not if your going for a holiday .we are just back from havana very safe as there is police/military most places, never even seen any trouble as long as you use the same sense as you do in the uk eg no walking down alleys at 3am etc we had a couple of nights when we were out late drinking and had a local person drive us back to the hotel in one of the vintage American cars no problem they are more interested in making a couple of pounds as it it a very poor place and hard to earn money .So i would say YES as long as you treat people the way you would expect to be treated !

Just use common sense. At the resorts no problem but if you are wandering the streets of Havana or other large cities in a drunken state flashing expensive jewellry or a wad of cash, the same as anywhere you could have a problem.

it might have been years ago when Russia was trying to move in but i understand folk say they enjoy it when they return

Cuba is the safest island in the Caribbean with very little crime. i just got back from my hols, it was ace i loved it. I felt more safe there than i did in some Spanish resorts (last time i went spain my girlfriend and had her bag snatched no such problems in cuba).

However like every1 said just exercise the same caution you would do anywhere on holiday and you will be fine.

Palmasysol39
very dangerous , so dont go, give me your ticket , I will go for you and sacrifice myself. je je je
