Can I get your take on the whole Akon/Zen incident?

Now, me eh no big fan ah Akon but here is what I think.....I think that Akon probably take in two, three fete on video, assumed that "dirty dancing" was an acceptable form of expression in our country and then proceeded to deliver his version of it. Of course he was dead wrong in his interpretation and came off just looking like some sort of perv. As for the girl, I don't think Akon should be held responsible for that. How was he to know the child was a minor A, and B he's just the performing artist at a club, should he be responsible for screening the age of the patrons? I don't think so. The responsibility for the underage child being where she was, when she was, falls on Zen and her parents!!

Firstly that little girl parents is to blame I personally think too many parent are always ready to blame somebody else except themselves, that is a Preachers daughter for yah, I was the teenage daughter of a police officer and
1. I was not allowed in no club at 14 and
2. I was not allowed to wear that kind of clothes or even have a pericing other that my ears. So parent take yah blame. And Mr Akon that is Muslim man with 3 wife, lie to the people to come on stage with him which he didn't have to do had enough air heads in Zen would have been glad just to come and wine on him and he can not wine to save he life.

It does not matter if the young lady is 14 or 41 no woman should have been treated that way. "Well she could have let go." I don't want to hear that. In a situation like that is only one person had controll and that was Akon. What was more upseting was to hear the crowd roar in acceptance.

I am no saint I love to whine on a good woman and break way but there is a limit. We taking we whine and incorporating MTV and BET nonsense into it.

My Trini women is time to get back to the days when you give a man a whine but if he getting to deep you bounce him off. Is not only the foreigner do this to us is the Mas Bands also. Imagine you charging $3,500 for a bathing suit with nothing and you women paying it. Some bands telling you they don't want a woman of a certain size in their band. You think you could say that S#!t in the US and not get a law suit in yuh tail?

Unless we start respecting ourselves these things will happen.

i am still wondering how they let a kid in a club. don't they check id's? i thought they did. or can you get fake id's? i saw her picture in the sunday express the next day and had no idea that she was a kid! or maybe akon didn't realize that either. i am still a bit peeved though about the whole thing.

Honestly - I used to go to clubs when I was 14. So I can't say she wrong for going. Granted I didn't wear outfits like what that young lady wore.
But I saw the video - there was no way she had any control of the way Akon flung her around like that - plus there was no way he would know that he was dancing with a minor. It was a real unfortunate situation, but if she wasn't so young we wouldn't hear about it - you don't think so?
Another thing - why do I get the feeling we're almost proud of all this international attention we're getting?

OK so we all went somewhere without our parents' permission at some time in our lives

And we must have done something we weren't supposed to do

But why prolong this issue

I do not think Danah commited any crime and we are forgetting that due to her age there is no way she would have had the forethought about the possibility of being caught on video (especially as i am sure she was heavily encouraged by friends)

I am not condoning her behaviour, and luckily i never had any problems of that nature or anything close to it with my daughter but we must allow her another chance at being an ordinary teenager. Her attire, piercings and tattoo are quite popular amongst many teens in T&T

So, is it because your child was not caught on camera they are less guilty?

Please check your home, then condemn.

It is sad but firstly there are all sorts of pics of her being circulated even her hi5 webpage where she described herself as a 'professional slacker' and a party girl. I do not know what her parents were thinking of allowing a 14 year old to leave the house at that time, especially with all the crime taking place. Just as another answerer suggested, she seems to be sexually active just by her seductive body movements and she seem to enjoy all that was happening on stage. If she did not, then before it all began she should have found a way off the stage. It is even more sad that the youths out there are watching this crap...hopefully no one will follow in her footsteps.

I think that this whole thing is being blown outta proportion. That girl has a serious histroy of liming, seductive pictures and she is in no way INNOCENT. She has no right being at that club and putting herself in that position to let this happen to her. She didn't in any way seem disturbed when she was being flung around the stage, she was totally enjoying herself and her movements was that of a sexually active woman.
