Can anyone recommend a resort in Negril or Montego Bay for my honeymoon?

I'm getting married at the Coral Cove Resort in Little Bay, and looking for a resort in either Negril or Montego Bay. So far, I like RIU resort, and have ruled out Sandals.

any suggestions?

thanks!
Additional Details
oh and my budget is no more than $500/night

RIU is a very nice resort but I would suggest you looking into Grand Lido or Couples. They are adult-only and have alot of activity. If you want a small resort that is not all-inclusive on the beach I would look into Nirvana, beautiful!
IMHO if on a honeymoon I would look into staying on the cliffs where it is more romantic and have the resorts that are more tailored to what you are looking for.
My suggestions for cliff hotels are:
Tensing Pen
Country Country
The Caves
Rock House
Very romantic places and not your typical resort.

Don't stay in Montego Bay- too busy and the beaches aren't great. I have been to Jamaica 3 times... Negril is beautiful. I have stayed at the RIU Tropical Bay and have been to the RIU Negril.

The beach at the RIU Negril isn't as nice as the Tropical Bay. Actually- The tropical bay is currently under renovations to become a RIU Palace. Should be ready in November/December. Before the renos started, the RIU Negril was all in all a better HOTEL.. but lacked beach. The Tropical Bay was an older hotel which is why they probably started renovations. but great beach, you can walk out forever.

Please take another look at Sandals. We got married at Sandals Dunns River. I promise you will love it there, and want to go back many times. If price is a concern, just make sure yu are going there during the off-season.

1. Go to NEGRIL
2. For a honeymoon, I suggest an adults ONLY resort - not RIU where you have to wait in line behind kids at the bar!!
3. I have heard bad things about Sandals (not worth the $$$, and they were not nice on the phone - and my agent said to skip it) and I was not impressed with Beaches when i went (bad food, bar closes, nothing special)
3. My suggestions would be Grand Lido or Couples.
I have decided on Grand Lido for my weddingmoon - my man has been there before and its reasonable for an all inclusive

Ok so I just got home from Negril this past monday. A group of 14 of us stayed at Riu Negril and it was amazing. For 7 nights and 8 days the total cost for each of us was just about $1,600. Food, drinks, everything was included. The rooms were beautiful, the entertainment everynight was awsome. They were all friendly and inviting. They have an amazing swim up pool bar where we spent most of our days. haha .. Their beach is man made but is just as gorgeous as any other carribean beach. They constantly have activities going on at the hotel plus they have shuttle services that you can take through the hotel if you want to go on excursions, etc. They have a couple restaraunts and they were pretty good, different, but good. I would def. recommend this resort to anyone. I tend to be very picky when I stay at foreign places but I had an absolute amazing time and would DEF. go to Riu Negril again. Good luck with your choice!

I think Grand Lido Negril would be a good choice. It is adults only, has a clothing-optional part if you and your man want to try that, beautiful rooms, 24 hr room service, very luxurious and pampering. I'm pretty sure that it would fall within your budget as well.

It is not the "rustic" vacation, though. If you are looking more for an individualized resort, try the Caves, Xtabi, or some of the smaller hotels further up toward the cliffs.

Caves is supposed to be ultra romantic and fits your criteria for every room being different.
Check it out

Bluefields bay, small villas are about 600 a night(only rent from sunday to sunday), but it is all inclusive, food, cook, waiter, private villas with your own staff and beach, you may have tried all inclusive, but not like this, you could have the wedding there instead of Coral. They do have ac, but we never used it, they open the shutters and let the breez blow through the rooms,
If you havent already made up your mind, check out the Villas on Bluefileds Bay.
Congrats and ggod luck to you
