Can i travel to the Bahamas with a US student visa?..is the Bahamas a US territory?

As a Bahamian its more than a little insulting that someone who is supposed to be a student would think that we are a US territory. The Bahamas is an independant commonwealth nation comprised of an archipelego of 700 islands and cays. We are extremely proud of our independance and our economic stability. As for the student visa thing you should check the embassy guidelines. The rule changed in Janaury 2008 so you may be able to fly into the Bahamas on your student visa but you might not be able to get back into the
US without a passport though that rule may have been postponed due to protests from several caribbean countries.

He's right...so depending on your nationaliy, you MAY need a visa...you can see by using the site below. Just enter your nationality and destination and click for the info to see if you need a visa.

The Bahamas is not a US territory. It was a part of the British Commonwealth. I believe it is an independent country at this time, not totally sure about that though. As far as I know anyone with a passport can travel to the Bahamas.

whitesolstice11
I would assume if you have a US student visa, then you must have a passport . . . because all you need is a passport to get into The Bahamas.

Hello
I don;t'know,lol

General Asker
If you are just going for a vacation, no, you just need a passport!
