Yes you can, but I wouldn't advise on it bring cash instead, use it for emergencies only, I've had problems in the past with charges on my visa from vendors I didn't shop at.

Good luck

I was in Cuba recently and any credit car affiliated with US banks cannot be used i.e. Capital One, HSBC - the best thing to do is phone your Credit card company and ask them if they are affiliated with a US bank.
I used my credit/debit card from LLoydsTsb - had no problems at all.
They will not accept any travellers cheques associated with US either
I ended up just taking some cash with me - for spends, souvenirs etc., and used my debit card to pay for excursions - and got a very good exchange rate.
I stayed in the Cayos - Hope you enjoy your stay wherever you go - have a brill time.

If your bank is european canadian u name it u can use them, but if the visa bank belongs to the united states i advise u to bring eunogh money, another thing change your money little by little u don't want to be stuck with chavos(cuban money)u can't use them or exchnange them anywhere else.
good luck

We were in Cuba last year and the hotel we were in definitely would not allow anyone with an American connected credit card to use them, any others they will accept but nothing to do with America, take sterling with you to spend and change it there, you can't get Cuban pesos in this country and have to change your money in Cuba itself, it really cheap, we took £500 for two weeks, did a few trips, bought pressies and still had £160 left by the time we left, fantastic place for a holiday, enjoy.

You can use credit cards, but not all the stores take them. Cities like Havana and in Veradero are fine - they will gladly accept them.

Other places in the not so big cities you might be able to use them, but sometimes not. Bring cash, and use credit where you can.

Been there many times - outside of the big cities - and I don't have issues with my credit card, only that stores don't take them.

So no true...
I've just come back a week ago: Visa and Mastercard are not a problem. But it's much cheaper to change money.
Changing money: the comission is 3%
Paying or getting money with a credit card: the comission is 11%. So I'd only recommend it for emergencies!

Changing money is also not a problem, and you can change it back. There are casas de cambio everywhere! In the cities (normally in the most touristic streets), the hotels, and the airport.
When you change, they give you "convertible pesos". 1 peso convertible is equivalent to 24 traditional pesos. You can pay with convertibles everywhere, only be aware of in which currency a price is given (in a fruit market, for example, the prices are given in traditional pesos)
