Can we use electronics from the USA in Jamaica without having to buy converters or adapters? |
The USA is 120V 60 Hz, and Jamaica is 110V 50Hz, Most of the chargers I have, such as for my phone and ipod, say that input can be from 100-240V 50-60Hz. Any help would be grande. |

Its Very Hot In Jamaica
 |
Yes you can our voltage is lower but that won't harm your devices in anyway. I charge my iPods and other US bought electronics without problem. However some UK devices do require adapters but ones from the states don't need any. |

Let me give you a short answer to this question. Yes, you can use your regular electronics in Jamaica. We were there last summer and had no problem. You might want to check to make sure your phone will have service there. We have Cingular and my phone worked in Jamaica however my wife's did not. You can check the website of your provider to see if your particular phone will work. The cost was about $3 per minute. |

For one anything that has,the ability to adjust and aslo has the same domestic plug in to wall circuit is OK.
Your phone, ipod computers, and other electronics and etc; will work as these devices have transformers that, have two outputs, but check your Manual as this will give you more specifics.
Remember the power will only be a shade weaker,so for some devices the, damage will not occure quikly,as your only there for a short stay,if your there for 6 to a year, well there could be problems.
All you have to do is adjust the power to 110~115 Volts at a Frequency ~ of 50 Hz.
The only Problem you'll have is if your using a motorize device or a device which uses heat,as these items are built for a specific amount of energy.Eg Hair driers fans (heavy duty) washers and so on.for when using these items the power demand is alot greater there fore your item, which could be any of the above,is working at a shade or more weaker.
In terms of sockets and so on Jamaica uses the same, whether for 120 or higher.
Most of the goods that Jamaica consumes including Electronics are made in the USA,Japan,Trinidad and tobago,And China. |
