There is an established drinking age of 18 in the Dominican Republic but it is not enforced anywhere. Resorts are not concerned about it either, as long as they r making money. |

The legal drinking age in the Dominican Republic is indeed 18. **the**funny**bloke**9437962921 is also correct in that the legal age is not enforced, in most places, for the exact reason he cited. However, some extremely popular, well known places, such as the Hard Rock Cafe, do strictly enforce the law, as they have an international reputation to maintain. But overall, you should not have any problems getting an alcoholic beverage in Punta Caña, even if you are well under age. |

The only ridiculous place in the world with a 21 year old drinking age is the USA. Most normal countries, including the Dominican Republic have an age of 18 and don't really take it too seriously.

You can drink at 12!!! But like she said, there is a law that says drinking age is 18. Some hotels, like Club Med inforce it...but for the others, i really don't think so!
