We are planning on going back to JA over Christmas and New Years. I have been there twice so far, there is crime but mostly in Kingston. You are pretty safe if you leave the resort, and you should or you're not going to see the real Jamaica. Tourism is their major money maker in Ja. so people who live there really look after the guests to their country. They want you to come back. We will be staying at a Villa, renting a room. Almost everything is closed on Christmas, and the day after for Boxing day. So, if you are not staying at an All Inclusive, you'll want to stock up on beer, food, anything else you'd have to go to the store for. Christmas Eve is a big party when all the people gather in the town center and shop and sing. They have a town tree and have a big lighting ceremony. The best attractions are, Dunn's River Falls in Ocho Rios, Negril's 7 mile beach, Lots of beaches and coves in Port Antonio, Treasure Beach area on the south side of the island is a small local fisherman area (no tourists or hotels) This is where we are going to be. Pelican Bar is a bar out in the ocean built on a sand bar, you have to take a boat to get there. The Appleton rum factory tour, Nine Mile St ann, (this is where Bob Marley is buried). There is also the black River where there are crocidiles, and Bamboo Ally. These are only a hand full of things there, that we have done. Everything there is wondeful. We have never had a saftey issue. Just use common sense. Yes there is also alot of Ganja too. That is nice if you like that, but contrary to what people hear about Jamaica, not everybody who lives there smokes it, but it is everywhere. The best thing to see while in Ja. is to just get out and mingle with the people who live there and see how they live day to day. You'll love it! Remeber... No Problem Mon! |

Just about every holiday in Jamaica requires you to smoke a fatty with your neighbor, thus pleasing the Jamaican God called sativabuddha, which I understand is a very forgetful god when it comes to your wishes! |
