Charity work in Haiti..?

I want to go to Haiti to get involved in some kind of charity work
I'm from the UK, does anyone know how i can do this?
are there any groups that I could join to go with them?
Additional Details
I don't really want to go with a church
I am christian, but I don't want to travel around the world to 'pray for them', I would rather be involved with a group that does practical work

I lived in Haiti for 2 years and I have ONE QUESTION FOR YOU ... and that is WHAT CAN YOU DO? Do you have any REAL skills? that are useful in that country. They already have enough "Prayer Warriors" (people who don't have any real skills).

What you don't understand is, you are going to be a DRAIN on their LIMITED RESOURCES.. and if you can't give back at least twice as much as you get... then THEY CAN'T USE YOU.. DON'T NEED YOU... and DON'T WANT YOU.

During the 2 years I was there I had to deal with these wild eyed groups who were going to come to Haiti and bring GEEZUS to the 'ignorant natives'.. most of whom had already HAD more religion in their lives then the 'missionary' who was bringing it.

If you REALLY DO want to go to Haiti.. or any other 3 rd world country you need to have REAL SKILLS... public health nursing.. water purification.. waste water management... electrician... etc and you MUST BE ABLE TO SPEAK THE LANGUAGE... if you are going to Haiti and hope to be useful and effect.. that means LEARNING HOW TO SPEAK CREOLE.

Do everyone a favor... I you have nothing to offer and no skills to bring to the table.. then STAY HOME.. their resources are already strained to the max and they don't need another mouth to feed.

Hello
My name is Rene Raymond i Go to Haiti every year to give out food and clothing to the needy in Haiti. I build up a supply and send it to Haiti by boat. i always need extra hand to help me and extra supplies(boxes, cloths, and dry food). If you would like to come and have a free place to stay (i stay in the community that i help so most likely there will be to government power). i feed about a hundred people every year. give clothing till i run out. i will be going on 12-11-08 and you can reach me after that date on 011-509-3-817-4749

I is mainly church groups which are going there, but they are engaged in building projects, health clinics and all sorts of practical things. I've been in that capacity.
Here is a very good one, which would enable you to be a helping hand with a medical team, but to join a group you'd have to work out travel arrangements to coincide with theirs. http://www.loveachild.com/
I also found this Dublin based group.

There are so many groups in Haiti now. I know a group called friends of Haiti from Antigua were over there in October to help send kids back to school so you should ask around.
