Cheap and cheerful places to stay in jamaica?

"Cheap and cheerful" is vague as a resort description. I suggest you decide what you want in a resort and go from there. Do you want relaxation? Or an adult's only property? Or a place that caters to kids? There are many resorts in Jamaica but they are varied. When you decide what kind of resort you want your search will be much easier. We were there in July and decided we wanted a "no kids" resort (ours was 14 and over), one that had a disco that was open late, and that had a great entertainment staff. We stayed at Breezes Runaway Bay. However, what I hear is the Club Ambiance is a great bargain. We might go there next year.

Have been there several times and found that the best resort there is Breezes at Runaway Bay. Go the all-inclusive route and you wont be disappointed.

the best places to stay in jamacia are the sandals resorts but they are couples only. otherwise stay at beaches or breezes.

Jamaica hosts a full calendar of musical, artistic, cultural and sporting events. Reggae Sunsplash and Reggae Sumfest are the biggest funfests on the island, held about one week apart in July/August. Sunsplash is held near Ocho Rios, Sumfest in Montego Bay. Both are frenetic beachy music festivals, with A-rated fun and X-rated dancing. Carnival, the week after Easter in March/April, takes place on the university campus in Kingston and at various other places around Jamaica. It's a big blow-out, mainly for Jamaicans, with reggae, calypso and dancehall soca the main booty-shakers, but it's also a tourist attraction in its own right. In June, the top names in jazz perform under the stars at the Ocho Rios Jazz Festival. Jonkanoo is a traditional Christmas celebration in which revellers parade through the streets dressed in masquerade. The festivity has its origins among West African secret societies and was once the major celebration on the slave calendar. At New Year's, check out Fireworks on the Waterfront in Kingston.

There are a number of yacht races on the calendar: the Pineapple Cup, held each February, starts in Miami and finishes in Montego Bay. Cricket matches are held from laneway to lawn throughout the year. In April, the West Indies team takes on an international challenger in the Kingston Test Match.

If you want to go off the beaten path and try something new at a reasonable cost check out the south coast or east coast of Jamaica.

i just got back from my honeymoon we went though sandals the location was "Grande Ocho Rios" it was off the hook I'm 24 yrs old and i had a blast it was $2,400 for me and my wife for 5 nights the resort was 1400 but the plain tickets from SF to ocho rios was 1000. food was off the hook once your there u don't have to pay for anything alcohol is also free. thought out the Trip i spent 600 and that's because i did things outside of the resort like house back riding in the ocean, duns river fall, ATV riding, and taking a safari of Jamaica it was off the hook trust me if u go u will have a good time

If you are going to Negril you should check out:

Legends(at the Beach) and Samsara(at the Cliffs) are very reasonable to stay at and offer all-inclusive packages or just hotel packages. We have stayed there several times and love the staff there. :)
