Clothing in Puerto Rico?

Why type of clothes did Puerto Ricans wear in 1898... or around that time?
If possible, can I get a picture?
Thanks!

Here are some fotos of traditional clothing from Puerto Rico. These clothes are worn now for festivals & parades but in the 1800-1900's these clothes would be typical dress for a party or something. LIke Darth Eugene Vader said also clothing depended on the wealth status of that person also.

You can check El Puerto Rico del ayer Color Photos at www.photosofpuertorico.com/delayer/color... Also check out Jack Delano who was a photographer for the Dept. of Agriculture who came here in 1941 and began taking photos of Puerto Rico for agricultural purposes and for history. There is a book with his photos called Puerto Rico Mio, it is interesting. Also you can check out www.jibaros.com, here you will get the jibaros page and others will come out for you to check.
The woman back then wore long dresses. In the city and higher society, the dresses were of heavy cloths such as velvet, wool, cotton and of course they had long slips. In the country the woman wore long dresses but they were not that fancy and did not have all the fancy designs. The men in the high society had suits of twill, and wool with white shirts and ties which were like scarves. The girls wore long dresses and the boys pants. For those going to school, uniforms were a must. Up until the 1980's, all boys from k to 6th grade wore kaki colored pants (dark beige and same colores short sleved shirts), black shoes and white socks. The girls from k to 6ht grade wore navy blue jumper skirts, white blouses, black shoes and white socks. From 7th grade on up the colors would change depending on the grade. Boys color uniform remained the same but the girls skirts colors were different for each level. From the 1980's on, the schools changed all that. Now each school by a unanimous vote changed the colors so as to distinguish students of one school from another.
In the country bear foot was common, in the city shoes were worn. The woman would all have long hair and worn in buns, or high hair dos on the head with long finger curls hangind down. Some would have elaborate high hair does. You can also check out Felisa Rincon de Gautier Bio, she was the first femal mayor in Puerto Rico for the city of San Juan. There are a few photos of her and her dress at that time. I hope this helps and check out the book I mentioned.
