Considering moving to Trinidad HELP!!?

Hi all,
I'm considering moving to Trinidad. I grew up there but now live in New Jersey. I honestly can't stand living in the states and I'm in Trinidad quite often. This year alone I was there 4 TIMES. I enjoy the feeling I have when I'm there I feel that my heart is there. I understand that the crime rate is extremely high and I'm off course thinking of living somewhere near POS. Can someone who lives there give me some advice? Do you think its a bad idea to move? What are the pros and cons of living there? Is it hard to find a good paying job? Please any advice will be appreciated. Thank you

If you are a qualified person I see no problem in getting a job (once the qualifications are recongnized here)

Unless ur in nursing or something medical yes it will be hard to get job in Trinidad. Alot of my family are moving back but they are taking their savings, 401ks and ever else they have and are starting their own business, for example my cousin just registered hers the other day. She is starting a medical supply company. My parents are thinking about starting a landscaping company to manicure some of those lawns on those million dollar properties they are building. I myself have been approached about opening a bakery and I am contemplating it.You have to find what is missing and start supplying it.

You're not alone. I felt the same way when I was living with my mom in Barbados. My dad lives in Trinidad so whenever I came to visit I missed it so much and never wanted to go back. I've been living here for two years now in Port of Spain and I am still alive. I guess Trinidad really loves to advertise it's deaths and murder tolls compared to other countries who may have a higher % of deaths but don't publicize it like we do so that we may never know.

It's a great place to live if you look past the fact that it has the 14th highest murder rate in the world. And traffic can be a pain too but you probably know that.

You sound just like me..i'm in the same boat as you are.. the only thing is..i'm ketchin my @$$ to find a job down there in my degrees..so for right now..i'll remain up here until I can find something good.... I really don't want to work at pizza boys or kfc..i'll be damned if i buss my @$$ for 6 years in school to work in a restaurant..everyone keeps telling me it's a bad idea to want to move..but everybody gotta do what's best for them.. I really want to be home more than anything in the world..but right now isn't the right time..there's crime wherever you go..you just gotta use common sense and just pray I guess.. if it's in your heart to move..then by all means do so..but.just make sure that you have everything together before you go..in terms of good employment, a place to live..preferbly a vehicle unless u like to travel..I realised that getting a good job home is all about who you know too..if you know the right ppl..u likely to get in somewhere good...don't give up though..i'm not giving up..if it's something that's in your heart and you always wanted to do it..don't let anyone talk you out of it..trust me..they'll try to.. . Good Luck :)
