Cruising - what to do if raining during excursions? |
Ok so we booked our excursions ahead of time and we leave in a few weeks - if there is a hurricane like there is now what do we do if we can't go on the excursions?
We're going to Ocho Rios and Grand Cayman... |

Cruise ships will not sail into a known storm area. They will substitute ports of call rather than risk damaging the ship or causing passengers risk. Don't fear that.
There is always a chance of rain on cruises. What we always do is carry a small purse sized umbrella and disposable rain ponchos, wear shoes that can get wet and clothing that repel the water ... & have a ball! It's still worth it. |

If you booked your cruise and there is a hurricane the first problem will be whether your ship sails at all and/or to the scheduled ports. So the matter of your tours may be moot. If they do not go to the ports they will refund all of your money for the tours.
If the ship sails and makes the scheduled port stops but it rains (not hurricane force rain, but just rain) the tours will probably still go, unless its a tour that rain washes out. But if its just showers you go on your tour and get kinda wet, which you would probably get anyway. |

If there is a hurricane and they have to detour or cancel that excursion for some reason they will reimburse you. If you think there is a chance of rain carry a poncho or umbrella with you that way you can still enjoy your excursion. |

You can pretty much hang out in the cruise ship itself. They have casinos, bars, a theatre. Hope this helps.. |
