Cuba is it now ok to go on holiday there yet?

Will we be frowned upon by the local population for going on holiday there after all the damage from the hurricaines etc?

Cubans will welcome you with open arms they need the tourist dollars to rebuild and keep people employed.

you are so right below are some sites which you could check they have suggestions as to what will help immensely. I most certainly disagree with suggestions by some posters that we don't care about Cubans.

As far as I see, nobody cares about the population in cuba. We suffer the most terrible dictatorship in america, but certain people here insist in ignoring that fact and talk as if nothing happens.

Sometimes, silence is a crime

Nobody cares, especially here, about the local population of Cuba

Somebody here mentions that tourist dollars are vital for fidel. How sad. As we said, no consideration for the Cuban people

The damage from the hurricanes is only a little bit more besides the damage that big bad old fidel has done to our country for 50 years

I don't see anyone mentioning that, but rather the opposite

We can see that some people still spread comunist propaganda here. How sad

What the local population feels, nobody cares about that.

If they did, they would help to bring down the comunist dictatorship that rules our country for 50 years

You can disagree. You can say your opinion, no matter what it may be

I have the feeling that what the local population may think is something nobody cares about

To dian- editor of girlsget away:
Absolutely ! You should not forget that your money will help to keep bad old fidel in power. We cannot allow that poor old bad fidel sees his regime collapse due to lack of foreign money

yh its sAfe just make sure ur not cuban. it will be extremely difficult 2 get back out ov da country and u must have british/american passport to get out of the country if not start making housement plans and get used to high crime. dont stop at traffic lights even if on red only do at tourist compartment if not u will get robbed and possibly killed. dont get lost either will most likely lead to death or being held captive.

We are booked to go to Cuba in a couple of weeks and I also was wondering about the advisability of going ahead with our holiday. We decided that the one way we could help was to go ahead and visit, tourist dollars are vital to the Cuba economy, also if everyone stopped visiting and the hotel workers were laid off they would be even worse off!
I think if we keep in mind that the island is still recovering - not to expect everything to be in tip top shape and also to bring some needed items (clothes, small tools, over the counter pharma) it should be cool
