Cuba or Dominican Republic?

Hi, I am deciding whether to go to DR or Cuba.. I love beaches.. and history.. I went to cancun last time and got a little bored there because there wasn't much to explore within the cancun area... I'm travelling alone and I'm in my early 20s and I'm asian.. would it be safe to go to either of these places? Which one is safer for single female traveller? (Men in Cancun Mexico were VERY aggressive!) Which one would you recommend? I would love to see the whole island (whichever country I Go to) is that possible?

Hello. I would actually suggest Puerto Rico for you. Old San Juan is a beautiful historic city. There is so much to see & do, plus beaches! And it is actually pretty safe, especially compared to some other islands. It's one of the better off islands because its a US territory, so there arent tons of people begging you to buy something & the water & food are safe to consume. And you can see a 500+ year old fortress called El Morro. There are tons of historic govt buildings & cathedrals. There are even indian parks where the tainos resided thousands of years ago.

Out of Cuba or Dominican Republic, I would probably choose Cuba. I am american so I never been there, but Havana seems to be a beautiful city. I have been to DR. It is very nice, but if you want nice beaches you will need to stay somewhere like Punta Cana (which is similar to Cancun- beach & tourists, but thats it). But for the history you will need to go to Santo Domingo, which is pretty far away. Also it's not the safest city for a female travelling alone.

Check out the links below. Click on places under 'Historical Sites'. Goodluck :)

Guys are going to be aggressive anywhere you go because
A. You're a female
B. You're an American female, single and you have a passport. LOL

I say Cuba.

Beardo
Cuba - definitely. Lots of history, dancing, music.

And yes, Cuba is pretty safe for visitors.
