Cuba or Punta Cana for an all-inclusive resort?

Some very good answers given so far. Many good opinions. Have been to both destinations and both are GREAT destinations. You can't go wrong with either. Depending on your agenda (beach, water sports, nightlife, couples, kid-friendly, singles, etc.) there are many very nice all-inclusive resorts. The best way for me to book my trips is with the links at http://MyTravelFest.com (Links to Cuba, Thailand and the D.R. there). For D.R. and Thailand Tickets I like Kayak, for Cuba I like Sell Off Airfares. For Cuba I might even suggest Havana-Rentals and tell them you want to rent an All-Inclusive House in Miramar if you want a private vacation. You would basically have your own staff, cook, etc. You can have a driver at your disposal if needed. There are some BEAUTIFUL homes in Miramar, several with pools.

Cuba! The beaches are clean and beautiful and the all-inclusives are fantastic. The food, bars, accomodations, activities, everything are top notch...but as long as you book nothing less than a 4*.
I recommend the Sol Melia resorts. They are beautiful resorts, great staff, food and accomodations...everything you could ask for. And the VIP service is fabulous.

Obviously rates are higher when it's high season, but truthfully you are getting your money's worth.
I recommend shopping online and seeing what the best deals are and then actually call the agency you would like to go with and mention to them what the lowest rates are that you saw and see if they'll match and/or do something better for you. It's always better to talk in person with the travel agent than just going online and booking directly.
From personal experience, you'll get better service and they will be better able to help you with specific requests regarding room, flight and services.

Here are two good sites to check online prices and another site where you can check the reviews. I've found booking online can save some money, but check out more than one the prices can vary. Both Cuba and the DR are excellent for value, great beaches, lots to do, scenery and friendly people.

I'm an American, not allowed to spend money in Cuba so I vote for Punta Canta.

You can get a nice package with air to DR for around $1,200 to $1,500 per person (all-inclusive for food and beverage, excursions are extra)depending when you plan to go and the class of the resort.

I do my reserch on the web and go to my local travel agency. They usually match the price or are cheaper. I like the idea of a travel agent there in the event I have any problems.

Dominican Republic would be my choice based on their recent desire to dedicate themselves to the travel industry. La Romana is my personal favorite, Punta Cana is beautiful but limited activities; and finally Puerto Plata (Sosua area) is ideal if you prefer a city to explore.

Your cost will certainly be based on your point of origin and availability. But DR is known as the most affordable Caribbean destination.
