Cuban Cigars? What should i buy?

I'm heading to Cuba and wanted to bring back cigars for gifts.
I want to get good (but not too expensive) cigars but don't know a thing about them.
All advice welcome.

Cohibas, if you can afford them. If someone came back from Cuba and gave me a couple of genuine Cohibas I would be their new best friend!

And to the loudmouth who would rather buy a chicken sandwich...eating out makes you fat and gives you heart disease and cancer, the same as smoking does...fatty.

Monte Cristo and I think someone told you

Wow - since cigars are very subjective, its difficult what to recommend.

For around 150 CUC's or less, you can get the following:

Partagas Serie D no. 4
St. Luis Rey Serie 'A'
Ramone Allones Specially Selected
Bolivar Royal Coronas (one of my all time faves)
El Rey del Mundo Choix Supremes
H. Upmann Magnum 46

To name a few.....

As been said earlier, get them from a Gov't store - do NOT buy from anyone off of the street claiming they have a relative working in the factory.

Wow......someone is getting $60 fakes from a 'friend who works in the cigar factory'.

As for the Esplendido's tasting the same as Robustos - wrong. Different ring gages for one thing. Different lengths, too. What does that mean? The blend will be different and in turn, the sweet spot of the cigar will be different - cigars actually go thru flavor changes through the length of the cigar.

I went a couple of years back
First they are very expensive so you must get it right. the best thing to do is. If you know some one that smokes cigars ask them before you go.Do the tour of the cigar factory buy a box there.Every man and his dog will try and sell you some 99% are fake. if you are paying that sort of money go to the proper Government shops.
Enjoy your trip
Oh, enjoy the dancing to

Monte Cristo are good but don't buy them in the street because they are fake

Beer un Wings
make sure you get them from a reputable place i.e. visit a factory as there are many fakes off the man on the corner "pssst wanna buy cigars type"
Cohibas are thougt to be some of the best as they only used to be made for Castro

I usually buy a few Romeo y Julieta for my friends on the beach, granted they don't have a certificate however since my friends are not experts on cigars they have always been pleased with them. In December I paid 10 CUC for five.

i go every year, i got a really good cigar last year, its called guntanamera like the song, they're really smooth. the best place to buy your cigars if you want legit is duty free on your way back home in the cuban airport. all the cigar shops and factories have the same price, but duty free is cheaper. if your looking for something a little more main stream there's montecristo, coheba, and romeo and juliet, but they're really expensive legit, the guntanamera's are only 1 peso each

zak
if you live in america and they wont let you enter them

Cohiba cigars are your safest bet. Any cigar smoker will appreciate them, they are well known and ranked as one of the best in the world. There are several varieties of Cohiba cigars, ranging in thickness and length. I found Cohiba Robustos to be the most convenient size in all aspects. These cigars cost $39.95 each here in Canada. I usually pick up a box of 25 from my friends who work at a cigar factory for $60. As seasoned cigar smoker, these are my absolute favorites. Got a humidor full of them at home. I once also picked up a box of Cohiba Esplendidos (same thickness as Robustos, but longer – Churchill size) and found them to be a bit too much. Same taste, but way too much to smoke, so by the time you’re done with a single cigar you’re just about turning green from smoking so much at one time. Robustos to me are a perfect size.

Your second best bet is getting a box of Monte Christo cigars. Again, one of the highest ranked cigars in the world, as a matter of fact, Monte Christo Millennium Special Edition are known as THE best cigars ever made. As with all cigars, there is a variety of sizes, I found Monte Christo #4.

Romeo and Julietta would be your third safest bet. Enjoy your time in Cuba. Nowhere in the world can you get cigars that offer type of taste and experience Cubans do. Whoever you intend to give them to will see you as aficionado if you bring them some of the finest ones as listed above.

DATHIP FO LIFE
You shouldn't buy period. Cigars for gifts. *sighh sad... you still smoking....

Cancer....

I rather buy a chicken sandwich rather than a box of cigars.

GOD BLESS
