dread they give out over $45M in scholarships go and apply for one nah. Best thing is that dey doh list names to protect yuh bizness so who say repay. Also if dey doh find ah wuk for yuh when you come back den daz dem loss.

Did you do your O'levels and A' levels? You can contact the foreign admissions office and ask how to apply for a scholarship based on those grades. If you did the SAT's in Trinidad you can do the same things. You can also ask what grants and bursaries are offered for a foreign student and that's money you don't have to pay back afterwards. Call banks in the areas of the universities as well; lots of times wealthy private citizens set up funds for students. You fill out an application, most likely write an essay about why you are deserving of the money and then have an interview with the account holder. Google private grants and bursaries as well and see what comes up. It takes some legwork but there are ways to reduce the costs.

You could find out from the universities you applied to if there are any options for scholarships after the first year. I know that Canadian universities sometimes with graduate students.

actually, GATE should apply if the course of study is not offered in T&T and or the CAribbean. however im not sure it it extends to the US or CAnada.

I think GATE is for studying right here but it have programs for people who studyin in foreign too.

Check out the Ministry of Education to see what they have in place.

ah know in Bago, the THA always givin scholarships to people to go outside and study.

Financial aid does not apply to foregin students, and forget the government... if your grades are exceptional you maybe able to get a scholarship , other than that you are SOL ... I do not think in Trinidad there are student loans where you repay after you graduate . This only applies in the USA and Canada . And you will need a gurantor to co sign the loan.
