After 12/31/2006 you will need a passport to go to the Bahamas. For now just a birth certificate and driver license is fine. |

A US Birth Certificate or US Passport is required for entry by Bahamas Immigration. Many of the Islands in the Caribbean are the same. Some will accept Drivers licences.
Since 9/11 the US Govenment may require you to have a passport to come back. I'm not sure about that. And some countries, since the US Govenment has unilaterally broken many treaties the US Govenment required these countries sign that allowed travel between the US and those Countries, many of them have started demanding US Passports, just as the US has demanded their citizens have passports and new restrictive visas. |

whether or not is is required to get there, you should never leave the US without it since the issue is really whether you can get back in or not. so yes, bring your passport and keep it secure. |

The Bahamas is owned by the United states, so if your a united stated citizen you can go there without a passport.
