Do I have to pay federal income tax if I move to Puerto Rico?

nena
If you are a Full Time resident of Puerto Rico, you Do NOT pay federal income tax.

But if you live in PR & work for the US gov't or make money outside of Puerto Rico then you must pay federal income tax.

Puerto Rico has there own taxes that will be paid. Check out the links w/ the proof.

If you are a full time resident, the answer would be NO.

If you happen to get any kind of pension or retirement (such as military or form a US company), that will be taxed, but when you file with the IRS it will all be refunded back.

You will have commonwealth taxes, which are almost as bad as Federal Income Tax.

B
Only on income that is generated in one of the 50 states. So if you are in PR but have a business making money still in the US, you will pay federal tax on that income

Once living in PR you will just pay PR tax

Only if you are a federal goverment employee, if I'm not mistaken.

We pay SS related taxes.

I think Federal income taxes (as bad as they are) would be better than living there. LOL. It's truly bananaland. A total jungle overun by gangbanger types.

crystal
You will have to pay federal income tax if you have incomes from the states (50). If your incomes are locals you don't.
